why cant people with eczema learn that once theyre past a certain age (18 - 25 ) and the skin still hasn't cleared they just have atopic eczema. meaning they have a condition for life and must appropriately treat the condition. there is no cure. there is no magic day you'll wake up with completely clear skin. the advice of stopping moisturiser creams, steroids, protopic or any other treatment is really detrimental and actually dangerous. people with eczema do not realise that infections of the skin can and will kill them or progress to worse infections (eczema herpeticum) and these infections WILL spring up from neglecting the skin barrier of treatment. telling people with eczema to stop their medicine is the same as telling any other person sufferering from a type 2 immune system disorder to stop theirs. would they feel so confident telling somebody with Crohns or UC maybe even type 1 diabetes to just STOP their medicine? we are born with a problem, faulty skin and it can be rectified using medicine. im not even a fan of 'big pharma' and also pursue natural routes to help with my eczema but i'll bow down anyday to a nice dose of tacrolimus ointment or maybe some JAKs.
