Well, as much as I was excited about ShikaTema in this week's chapter, can't say I'm really that happy about Jiraiya and Tsunade. I mean, I'm happy that it's resolved but it's just sad that, in the end, Jiraiya's love for her was unrequited. I knew it was a long shot to begin with but I just couldn't help but ship it.
I always thought that they had a chance; I mean, what stuck with me was what would have happened had he come back alive during the Pain arc. Their conversation before he left seemed as though something might have happened if he came back.Â
Although, one thing I did like about Tsunade's dream was how everyone was together, even Orochimaru. Despite all the stupid things he's done to the village and to her personally, she still wants him to be there whether because they were old team mates or simply because she still cares about him; I'd like to think it's the latter. Also, I liked that, although Dan had died, he was still her dream.
I imagine it must hurt to live the dream of her lover and her brother. As much as it is one of the few things that remind her of them and connect her to them, it's also a haunting reminder that the reason she's living their dream is because they're gone. I think being Hokage for her, more than anything, is a bittersweet ordeal for her to endure -- mostly bitter. Realizing this has just boosted my fondness for her character even further (I liked her mostly because I liked using her in the Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution franchise and that she was the first female Hokage).Â
