Got a date for top surgery and completed a bunch of new name stuff :)
I knew USA passports didn’t allow sex changes anymore, I didn’t realize Social Security Cards also stopped allowing sex changes.
*sigh* A little bummed about having to do more in the future once Trump is out but at least my card has the right name on it now! I get it in two weeks, it’ll help smooth out several other name change issues :)

forgot how little and painless my tshot is but i will be more consistent from now on. i jabbed my finger recapping the needle cause it bent sideways cause i put it on at an angle but even this was fine.
Hey, if you are able to legally change your name and need to get it done on your birth certificate in the United States, do not do online application applications. Instead, do mailed an applications. Yes, they take longer, but the service is better if there’s an issue.
Online applications go through a company called VitalChek, and as far as I and anyone else on the Internet can tell, they are bullshit. Additionally, if/when you need to call about these records and change things, there will be several instances on your states Department of vital statistics website trying to get you to call Vitalchek, they will just not answer. Instead, keep looking until you find the actual contact phone number listed. First comes to worse, call a different branch of the government and ask them to transfer you. They won’t like it, but they may know more than you do.
Additionally, I’m not sure if this is true for all states or not, but when they say, they will change your birth certificate, what they really mean is that they will send you a copy of your birth certificate as it appeared when you were born, and then an additional stamped paper listing the changes since you were born.
So no new certificate that says ‘Chosen Name, Gender: Correct’. Instead ‘First page - Deadname, Gender: AGAB. Second page - Deadname became Chosen Name, AGAB became correct’. From now on, you must show both papers.
This is also applicable for name changes for other reasons.
