Even on this barren stone tower, the whole world around me is alive. Starspren up above, they’re invisible now but I know they’re there, so far away, and the sky is so much farther. But if the deep sky is so vast, why do I feel like if I reached up I could touch the moon? Some people worry that if they look up long enough, they might fall upwards into the stars and disappear, but not me. I’m a Windrunner squire now. The skies are mine, and I can spin the whole cosmere around me as I please. It still makes me a little dizzy though. I close my eyes and drift. Metaphorically. Cognitively. I think of the world below me but also overlapping me, the world of spren, emotions brought to life. Spirits, no, conceptions of living things. Shadesmar, a parallel world where the flame of my existence hangs in the air. I want to see my own flame, but I can’t, because if I go there then I bring my flame with me. Where does it go, if I go to Shadesmar?
