That one time I went to Glacier and took this photo on a #nikoncoolpix. 5 years ago, around this time. Gosh, 5 years ago… We all talk about 5 year plan and I would have to say this is not what I imagined what I’d be doing with my life. My plan at that time was to marry the tweedledee with whom I was sharing the back of the tarp-covered truck bed on this trip and to be on my way to finishing up my second year of medical school. Thanks to goodness, I am not. The problem with 5 year plans is that they’re made when a person is 5 years less wise. How would 18 year old Heather know what she wants to do with her life? She just finished her first year of college and hasn’t seen much out of her rural comfort zone. She doesn’t have any fundamental knowledge such as making a meal without a microwave or simple things, like using a stick-shift. (still don’t know that one, if someone wants to sacrifice their transmission to teach me, I’ll bake you a cake sans microwave). Anywho, some people are gifted with knowing precisely what they want early in their lives and the rest of us are told to make a 5 year plan. Excuse my language but fuck that 5 year plan garbage. Live for today. And maybe a little for next week, just to plan for more adventures.
