Erica bounced up to the animal clinic because she’d decked herself out in a leotard, fishnet stockings, bunny ears and a puffy tail. In her hands, she had a basket filled with letters she’d written with Melissa, and some she’d made on her own, each of them sealed with a bright red lipstick kiss-mark. She wore that same lipstick now as she leaned over the front counter, kicking her legs into the air as her heels clicked on the linoleum each time they fell down to greet it. “Ooooh, Scottory!” she purred just like a bunny would if bunnies could purr. “I have a very special present for you.” She reached up to set the basket of letters on the counter and smiled mischievously. “Handmade from me to you.” She reached into her basket and slid an envelope with a bunch of lipstick kisses all over it toward him. “I’m supposed to be hiding these, but oops,” she giggled, saying the last word a little higher pitched than the others.
Then her tone changed entirely. “Oh and this one’s from your mom.” Except instead of handing it to him, she chucked it at his forehead.
