It is really uncomfortable and I think it was made to drive the snap in such a way....that derailed all the work. True, I like bookdany, and showdany was designed a certain way, to the point where male characters got her reasonable moments--in the book, she didn't have to be talked down. That's...a bit of the issue too, for me, but these men ....also did terrible things. The wildfire burning people in their ships was just as dark, fundamentally.
but what changed it from showdany isn't that she isn't unreasonable as before, it's that the other characters are suddenly framing it as a problem that is out of other issues, such as a male heir. It's sadly realistic, but by framing it that way, you made this another sort of discourse all together? Along with that racially charged death?
I think thereâs a fundamental difference between the wildfire attack on the ships, as that was a military assault. So itâs dark, but not comparable to an attack on Kingâs Landing that would kill civilians. But like I said I donât see anything about how sheâs being written right now as out of character for her at all. If weâre just talking about the specific actions of the characters within the narrative? Burning Kingâs Landing isnât justifiable.Â
And the primary discourse right now has been two sides. The anti-dany âsheâs the mad queen and evil and awfulâ people, which is a bit unfair, and the dany stans who think sheâs never done anything wrong ever and that sheâs suddenly out of character now which...isnât true when hints of her ruthlessness and temper have been there all along.Â
So with the sociopolitical stuff...I think most people agree Missandeiâs death was poorly framed and using the murder of a black woman to fuel a white womanâs rage is deeply uncomfortable. That said I donât think itâs derailed anything that wasnât already building. Had they killed off Missandei in the battle of winterfell fighting white walkers, and then had Jorah executed by Cersei, nothing would have changed for Danyâs character, it just wouldnât have been as racist. But Dany would have been just as angry and just as ready to burn shit down had the white man been the one to get his head chopped off. Itâs just that, the way they did it was very racially charged, so thatâs been a part of the discourse now. and it should be. but in terms of what it means for the character, I donât think it would have mattered which of her friends was murdered.Â

She could feel the splinters from the wood in her chest, but as hard as she tried to pick them out, her fingers were still shaking too much. It had been a long time since sheâd felt fear like this. Total, all consuming terror. The sun had set, which meant that hours could have gone by since Silas attacked her. She didnât know where Bonnie was, where anyone else was. And Klaus...heâd used Klausâ face. But the hybrid was still in New Orleans he...he had to be, right? He wasnât...Caroline swallowed, feeling her throat close up as she pushed her hair out of her face. A stick broke somewhere behind her and the blonde jumped, turning abruptly towards the sound, ready for another attack. It took a moment to recognize the face, and once she did, her body seemed to sink back against the tree, a breath of relief escaping her. âWhatâre you doing here? Itâs not safe.â
â professorââ â itâs an abrupt stop in his tracks, and without a second thought he clutches onto the strap of his bag. distrust doesnât make it to his face, but itâs present in the air as he shifts the weight from one leg to another. the mark on his arm hidden under two layers of fabric feels tingly, and a gulp forms in his throat. â  is there something you want of me? â

It wasnât as though Mal didnât fit in with the rest of her housemates among the Slytherin crowd. But, there was a part of herself that wondered if she was destined for something more. That she was more than someone who lived for power and revenge. Someone more than one that every quaked in fear because of who her mother was. Truly it was a gift sometimes to be the daughter of Maleficent. And yet seemed like a curse all the same. She found herself wandering about the castle. Aimlessly at night, not entirely sure where she was going or what her purpose was. Then she felt it, a presence that wasnât there before. Or maybe she had only noticed it now. Either way, it didnât take her heightened sense to figure out she was no longer alone.
âHello--whoâs there?â She asked in a faint whisper, approaching the other. âAre you alone?â She tried to observe but with how dark it was and how poorly lit the castle was during this time, it was hard to tell.
âHi, you look nice.â-Luna
âHmm, thank you.â Â Her eyes looked Luna over like she couldnât say the same even if she wanted to. Â âWhat are you wearing?â she added, unamused by Loony Lovegood who clearly had that name for a very good reason.

James has   never   felt so tense waiting for his friends in his life. Heâs sitting at the   old  Potter manor, wondering whether it had always been so   bitterly   cold in the family room before. After the Potter elders died, the cousins & distant relatives attacked like   vultures  to get their talons on this heirloom & that relic. The only things that remained was the furniture, all   morosely  draped in white linen, & a sole picture with a little James staring back at him with a gap-toothed smile & Fleamont & Euphemia on either side. It was one of those old-magic style paintings almost every family had, where the dad was   nitpicking  his son & the mum was smiling fondly at the scene & yet James could still not bring himself to look at it for more than a few minutes.           Absentmindedly he grabbed his wifeâs hand. They had a   plan,  theyâd be alright.      Moments that seemed like hours passed & finally the front door creaked open. James wand was already in his hand, ( least the message have been picked up & the intruder   NOT  Peter ), but he was pleasantly surprised by a mousy brown head.           â Peter. â   James breathed in relief, taking three grand steps to wrap Peter in a brotherly hug.                      â You came ! â
