trudy looks over, arms loosely crossed over her chest, at the bug van's latest catch. big fish, she thought, brows on the upward tick. she could tell this woman, confidently cool around all these vice cops, wasn't just another small-fry dealer to bust and book. ("when we get off," she tells thing one and thing two, leaning in conspiratorally, "i wanna hear about how you got this one. no skimping on the details.")

first, though: duty calls. she enters the questioning room and quietly closes the door behind her.

"what, you're not a fan?" she nurses her own, brow neatly lifting. "switek made that one for you special." the man in question winks and click-clicks his tongue, mouth pulled tight to one corner.

trudy loosens back into her chair until she presses flush against it. she briefly rubs her eyes with her hand heels, clearing them of their late-night haze, and tries to ignore the low ache in her stomach from skipping dinner.

i love when trudy/gina and stan/larry team-up. i know it's because they're not the main characters and it's standard to team up your ensemble because it's fun and involves everyone. but i think, in-universe, they do recognize sonny/rico are The Big Guns busy with Fat Cats and because of that they often help each other out

🧩 :     what part of themselves do they not understand yet? (trudy)

trudy is married to her job. she has difficulty thinking about herself in a way that's not connected to her work and achievements within it. she's broke up with boyfriends and lost opportunities to get close(r) to people because of her determination to be the very best she can be. it definitely has many things to be with being a black woman in her position, having to put in four times the work to be taken half as seriously.

tldr she doesn't know she wouldn't mind having a girlfriend. it wouldn't be any different than the boyfriends she's had until she works through some of her Issues, but!

the bedroom. and i'm being serious. the walls are purple. that's so cute. but i'm also a fan of the houseplants in the living room.

when the guys were in the pow camp, murdock taught the cook they befriended how to sing old cowboy songs. "the old chisholm trail" being the one of note because lin duk coo could never get the "come a ki yi yippee yippee yi yippee yay" part right, which helps them identify him years later when he’s working in the states. i’m sure it reminds him of home and his grandparents. him and his grandpa sung them together on the porch in an image that is very sentimentally southern. "i'm an old cowhand" and "my rifle, my pony, and me" (especially how dean and ricky do it in rio bravo) are two of his favorites.

trudy blinks again, a little more rapidly. she feels a muscle in her throat shudder. she laughs weakly at herself, dabs the corners of her eyes with a sleeve pulled over her index finger, then clears her throat.
