Dnd Trophy Collector
Does anyone else have that experience when playing dnd or some other table top game where at least one player keeps collecting body parts from fallen foes? Its so interesting to me as those players try and rationalize their growing collection of rotting bits until their bag of holding is one disgustingĀ slurry of discarded and forgotten parts. In my own games Iāve seen a player collect bear skins, Gnoll paws, and dead slime goo (poured out a bottle of holy water for that, which my cleric character took some offense to). The Critical Role crew also have collected, Gnoll ears, a manticore head, gator skins, dragon teeth, a demonās heart, and a bunch of dead quasits.Ā
I feel like there is a part of the Player that can see someone collecting body parts, either because their character is weird or because they understand that the item could be useful, but donāt know what to do with it once they have it.Ā
I think it would be really interesting to create a set of rules or guidelines for the collectors (and their dms) and their collections. So, guidelines on how to preserve or use the pieces so they donāt end up with a puddle of goblin parts on the desk of the mayor the next time they search the their bag of holding in their office.Ā
My thoughts basically break down into a couple of different ideas. Characters selling their loot, using it for either spell or artificer components, or keeping it as a trophy.Ā
For example:Ā
A bear pelt would be something that could be sold, but first it would have to be dried or tanned, then setting the value for the fur.Ā
A wolf pelt could be used as a cloak to grant the player resistance to cold damage or advantage on saving throws against cold damage.Ā
A red dragonās scales could be used to cast burning hands by a wizard.Ā
A barbed devilās tail could be saved as a trophy but first preserved so it can last, then be put on display in the characterās home base, possibly for advantage on intimidation checks.Ā
What are you favorite Trophies that have been collected by your party?
And what would you want to do with the Trophies? Sell, Display, Craft, etc?
