I’ve been thinking a lot about my contradictory behaviour and belief of regularly using and epilator to rip all of my leg hair out multiple times a week, but also that women’s bodies are controlled by patriarchy and that we have a responsibility to resist.
I’ve realised that, if I was a cis woman, I don’t think I would ever shave my legs, or my face, or wax and trim my eyebrows, or put on makeup every day, or try to waste my muscles away, or make myself smaller in every social situation, or a million other things. I would be loud, I would work out, I would make jokes, I’d so much. I would let myself be perceived as a “bad woman.” If I did all of that as a trans woman, I would just be perceived as a mentally ill man with a fetish even more than I already am. I just can’t handle that.
