THE MIDDLE FINGER 2016 Superhero/Comedy It’s probably no surprise if you’ve taken any time to listen to our podcast that I, El Jefe, much to the chagrin of the remainder of my podcasting group, am an absolute lover of all things Troma. Being a big fan of their films I immediately dove headfirst into the #Tromanowapp compiling a watchlist of favorites and things that I have yet to see. Intending to binge watch and completely submerge myself in the carnal Mayham that is my favorite low budget cinema company. The first film which manage to focus my ADHD addled attention is Seamus Hanly’s “The Middle Finger”, A superhero comedy spoof about Dennis, an outcast teen who finds himself convinced by a power beyond his control to become a superhero. Taking up the mantle of “The Middle Finger“, he is trained by the disembodied provider of his powers to ultimately thwart the destruction of the world. Between a mixture of laughably bad moments and truly decent comedic writing, The Middle Finger provided plenty of entertainment. Feeling at times like Rainn Wilson’s “Super” it is definitely a fairly unique spin on the superhero genre.
