“Hi! Will! Thank god you answered. I hate to bother you, but my car broke down on my way home from work and I need help. I don-” he could hear the tell tale whimper of tears in her voice and acted instinctively, interrupting her with a gently soothing voice. “Just send me your location, I’ll be right there.” He says with a reassuring tone, he could hear her sigh with relief on the other end of the line,

“Thank you so much. I owe you one.” She sounds significantly calmer when he hangs up the phone. When he gets her location he’s surprised because she shows up not so far from a suburban neighborhood. He thought she would be somewhere near town, but he realizes, he has no idea what she does for a living. As he gets into his car he ponders the possibilities. Is she a house cleaner? A Nanny? Door to door sales-woman? Will feels a little embarrassed, he hadn’t even asked her what she did for a living. He tried to rack his brain for anything that she might have said, not coming up with a single thing she had said. He pulls up behind her on the side of the road and gets out of his car. As he walks up to her door he was wracking his brain for a way to ask her what she does when he sees what she’s wearing. A full on ball gown, and a tiara. Will does a double take, this was not what he was expecting at all. She rolls down her window.

“Hey, thanks so much, I didn’t know who else to call.” She says with a smile.

“No problem…princess.” He says with a slight laugh before looking her over. “I will admit, I’m a little surprised to see you…dressed like that.”

“Oh, god. I forgot I hadn’t told you. I work for a party princess company.” She says as if that will explain everything to him. He looks at her puzzled.

“And that is?” he asks as he leans on her car looking at her.

“I get hired to dress as a princess and show up to kids birthday parties.” She explains. “Sometimes other events too, but mostly parties, hence Party princess,”

“Ah, I didn’t even know that was a thing you could do…” Will smiles and rubs the back of his head sheepishly. After getting under the hood and figuring out that this was not something he could fix on the side of the road they called roadside assistance and as they waited for the tow truck to some he asked her several questions about her job and she happily answered them. After the tow truck came Will drove her home. As he pulled up in front of her place she leans over and kissed his cheek.

“Thank you…prince charming.” She says with a cheeky smile. He chuckles slightly.

“Anything for my damsel in distress.”

“Oh c’mon how bad can it be?” Frankie laughed, they shake their head.

“Alright but don’t say I didn’t warn you.” They say with a roll of their eyes and a small smile. When the food arrives they watch as Frankie slurps up the noodles and broth and for a second she thought she might have been wrong, but then slowly but surely he starts to flush and his eyes start to water. They start to laugh slightly while watching Frankie start to realize what’s going on, and she could swear she could see steam coming out of his ears as he tries to chug his soda as quickly as possible.

“Hey, this…this is really hot, Like capital H-Hot.” He says panting slightly. At this point they can’t stifle their laugh and they lean back with laughter.  

“I…I..Fuckin,Told you Frankie!” they managed to get out through the laughter He looked at her and for a split second his face was dead serious before he also starts to laugh.

“You…You…Diablito! How was I supposed to know it was this spicy! Eh!” His laughter joined her in harmony as the sound echoed throughout the restaurant.

“Because I said it was Spicy you…you dork!” they had managed to stop laughing for the time being. From that point on Frankie knew better that to assume he could handle any and all spice. They were never, ever going to let him live this down.

“Hermosa…can we talk?” He asks, his voice still so smooth despite worry in it.

“Of course, what is it Santi?” She slides the bookmark into place then puts the book down. He takes a deep breath before siting up and taking her hands in his.

“You know I’ll always be there for you, no matter what happens, no matter what comes I’ll be by your side, through everything. Nothing will come between us. I want to be there for all of it. No matter what.” Santiago was nearly in tears, so focused on showing his support he hardly notices the confusion on her face.

“Not that I don’t appreciate it but…what the hell are you talking about?” She looks at him with affectionate confusion. He sighs and adjusts as to not be putting all his weight on his knees.

“ I found the pregnancy test in the bathroom…” He says gently.

“And?” She seemed even more confused, which confused him.

“And…that means you’re…well we’re…what am I missing?”  He blinks a few times genuinely confused. She starts to laugh slightly.

“"Santi, I love you, but I don't have a uterus. Never really got one of those.” She leans forward Looking at him with a smile on her face as she watches the realization cross his face.

“Oh…Right. I’m an idiot.” He laughs. Shaking his head at his own forgetfulness with a smile on his face.

“Not an Idiot, just, absent minded.” She smiles before sliding off the floor and sitting in front of him, she takes his face in her hands and softly runs her thumb over his cheek. “It’s my friend Tessa’s test, she wanted somewhere to take one that her husband wouldn’t find it, she wants it to be a surprise.”

“Oh, that makes more sense…Good for her and Mike.” Santiago feels the weight lift from his shoulders but feels slightly disappointed at the same time, watching his face fall slightly she smiles at him slightly.

“You know there are other ways to have kids right? We could…adopt, someday, if you want?” She asks softly while still holding his face. Again Santiago had never once thought of being a dad before that day, but now, he wanted that more than anything in the world. Santiago pulls her into his lap and leans down to kiss the top of her head.

“I…I would like that. Someday. Yes.”

“You…what? I don’t understand, you adopted a Capybara?” They try to get a clarification while holding a clean t-shirt in their hands as they look inquisitively at him.

“I thought I did…But all that came in the mail was this…and some papers” Benny pouted slightly. With just the slightest shimmer of sadness in their boyfriends eyes they immediately went into “fix it” mode, tossing the t-shirt back into the laundry pile to go look into what on earth he was talking about. As they walked into the kitchen they saw the papers in question. On the top was the familiar panda bear symbol of the World Wildlife Fund, and they started to laugh.

“Whats so funny?” Benny asks and cocks his head to the side.

“Babe, this was a symbolic adoption. You donated money to a fund to save endangered animals. You didn’t actually adopt a Capybara.” They look at him with amused affection. Sometimes they wondered if Ben had been dropped as a baby, something to ask Will later. They put a hand on his shoulder for support as they nearly fall over laughing, while handing him the paper. As he reads it carefully his eyes widen in surprise and then he flushes from embarrassment.

“Oh, that makes sense…I was wondering how they could only charge 60 bucks for a whole animal.” He chuckles slightly, looking over at his partner as they started laughing harder clutching to benny for dear life.

“60 Bucks! For a capybara? Benny, baby, where would we even keep it?” They managed to say between laughs. Benny smiled his killawatt smile at them and wraps his arms around them.

“Uh, I donno, Maybe the bath tub?” He suggests with a wiggle of his eyebrows. They shake their head before taking a deep breath.

“Benny, I swear, sometimes I think your brain is off in nowhere land.” They smile. Putting their hands on his chest as they laugh together.

“Oh c’mon it can’t be that bad…” He leaves a wet kiss on their cheek, giving them that big goofy grin of his. As they look into his baby blue eyes they can’t help but agree.

“Nah, its not that bad...” They say as they look at the stuffed Capybara sitting on the counter, and find themselves grateful that Benny didn’t adopt an actual animal to live in their bath tub.
