Trip cycle
Trip Cycle, so your a rare breed? could you tell me a bit more about your breed?, if you don't mind telling me of course.
"Breed? Huh-huh-huh. All the time."
(( Trip Cycle. Behave. ))
"Iâm a dragonkind, obviously. Thatâs one step down from the dragonfolk who tend to adapt less well to civilized situations, and at least two steps diluted from actual dragons. Who apparently donât adapt to civilization all that well at all, hehehaha.
All sorts of dragonfolk and dragonkind are rare to begin with, although there could be some dragonblood so far diluted that humans or other species mightnât even notice it anymore. Iâve never met a dragonfolk in person, but Iâve met two other dragonkinds- once upon a time. Once upon a very good time, mmhm.
Dragons themselves are rumoured extinct, of course, but I know better.Â
I donât know how far down the line I am, to be honest, but Iâd say at least one of my ancestors along the way must have been a water based scaley. I mightnât have fire powers like some dragonkind are rumored to hold, but Iâm damn good underwater.
I ainât met anyone yet who can⌠well, letâs just say, match me stroke for stroke in the water.â
Trip Cycle, do you have any brothers or sisters? or anyone you call "family"?
"Nahh.Nothin' by blood heritage and I'm not particularly good at the old deep attachment forming and keeping thing. The swamp's my home and its people are my people.
Never knew my birth parent or parents, so if I had any siblings, I wouldn't know it. I'm a rare breed anyhow; and I don't think there's room too many places for more than one of these, do you? *wiggles tail*"

Trip Cycle - Stranger.
She arrived alone, a vicious little thing that squiggled through the thick water and sunk four boats on her first day. By the time they caught her she had the blood of three hunters, five fishermen and the skipperâs left leg on her flat hands. The latter was more accurately found wedged between her jaws, and sheâd fought them for it like a feral animal playing tug-of-war.
They let her keep it from the ankle down, watching in silence as she gnawed and chewed until it was gone in a crunch of bone. They fought her for the rest of it, but the skipper had no need for his disembodied knee.
She arrived young, very young. She was all teeth and no class, so she fit in well in the bayou, finding like kind in the morally murky swamp. Although it was immediately apparent she couldnât understand a word they were saying, it didnât matter. Despite her capability, it didnât take them long to realize that she couldnât have been more than a week or two old; a baby abandoned or orphaned or of a species that was simply self sufficient.
They couldnât communicate at first, but they all learned fast. If she bit them they hit her, if they hit her she bit them. They raised her, begrudgingly, but it had proven harder to ditch her than to let her skulk around and grow.
She arrived small, a pint-sized slithery creature not much bigger than a piglet, deceptively roly-poly with wicked claws and wicked jaws. Each week she doubled in size, eating more than her weights worth in fish, slimy reptiles and mangy birds that she picked off high branches by throwing stones or being a surprisingly adept climber.
They thought theyâd surely run out of food. The small swap-side village wasnât stocked by trade, but by its own ecology, and they could only fish so much. They threw her in the water, and nowhere was she more dangerous. They followed her with their nets until their stores were full of pickled river-cod and dried python. They overlooked the occasional insignificant resident who disappeared in the night; she always grew most on the weekends.
She arrived at the library one day, and ate the books; only figuratively, because the brittle paper was foul to taste. She consumed every page, perusing the entirety of the shelves, stuffing her mind with knowledge and history like she stuffed her plate with meat. She grew in every way. Within the year she was a teenager, five feet tall and no less vicious, but possessed of their accent and culture and a nasty hormonal attitude.
They didnât live as long as she did; even though sheâd grown fast she aged slow, and they died before sheâd have been considered twenty by her own species. They were gone, everyone whoâd raised her, old age or illness claiming them while she thrived in what they left.
She arrived a stranger, but made herself at home.
Anon humbly suggests that Ayra and Trip Cycle meet over brunch to discuss their religious differences.
(AN: extended drabble answer, because I love this question so much.)
The swamp was hot, and damp, and putrid. So it was just another long humid day between the tall trees, on the maze of floating board walks and swinging bridges.
However outside the tavern- dressed in its daytime clothes like more of a casual cafĂŠ- a presentation was taking place. And that was something out of the ordinary.
Ynhalmerd, the Stink Swamp, would not be considered by very many the sort of place one would travel to for anything less than absolute necessity. To those living there, it was of course, âHomeâ, but to outsiders, it was generally considered as vile as most of its inhabitants, and certainly not the place to come with your children, your elders, or anyone lacking a strong stomach and a decent pair of running legs.
If there was one thing you needed more in Ynhalmerd than a ticket out, it was the ability to blend in to their ancient cultures and not cause a fuss. As one of the oldest settlements in all of âHwaen, it was common knowledge that folks who showed obstructing opinions to the long held communal beliefs of the inhabitants generally had the misfortune of drowning in the night.
OH MY GOD XD, "When Youâre Good to Mama - Chicago the Musical" totally suits Trip Cycle! XD (I want to listen to the song now).
It is the perfect song for her, hahaha. If I had the time and the skills, I'd love to see her animated to it. I can just see her wriggling around, shakin' her hips and swaying her tail... XD
pfffhahahahahahah XD
