Here is a photo I took of Queen Alexandrine's Sapphire Tiara on exhibition at Koldinghus Castle in Kolding, Denmark.
Thank you for sending this! I’m glad you were able to go to Koldinghus to see the exhibition. The construction of this tiara is not my favorite but the sapphires look like they would be stunning in person.
The new owner of this tiara permanently loaning it to the Amalienborg Palace Museum and then being alright with them sending it to Koldinghus for the whole Crown Princesses exhibition this year is so intriguing to me. It really does give credence to the rumor that Queen Margrethe was the buyer. Even though I know the backlash would be huge for her buying a 2,000,000 DKK tiara, I hope that it is her because it’s such a historical piece and the RF haven’t managed to keep much of Queen Alexandrine’s jewelry. A lot of it went to the Rosenborgs who are slowly selling it off. Then the beautiful sautoir was split in two and given to Princess Benedikte and Queen Anne Marie and the Diamond Drop Tiara was given to Countess Alexandra. I know Queen Alexandrine wasn’t much of a jewelry person but she had some beautiful pieces that would be great to see on future generations of the royal family. The only major piece of hers that I can think of that’s still with the main line is the sapphire devant de corsage that was turned into a necklace.
