See as someone who has PTSD myself I took to more to mean that the lives that touch yours, the things you've done, the people who've touched your heart for the good and bad make you up, and you're not the wreck you think you are, what you're made of is better stuff for all you've been. That's sort of what I took from it.

i’m glad that you could take that from it. for me personally it’s a) there’s still the race thing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth and b) i guess just in my view i think that. it’s important for someone like starscream to be accepted as he is and not in some sort of ‘in another, better world’ version. because he very much is still a person who does bad things and ruins other people’s lives and i also don’t think the narrative does justice to them as much as i don’t think it does justice to starscream and the person that he is, rather than the person he could have been maybe. 

and for me that’s important. for someone to accept me as the person that i am who acts out because that’s all they know how to do. and that i still deserve sympathy. it’s pretty important to note that starscream is rarely if ever treated sympathetically previous to this point. the christmas annual was nice, and in my opinion the best sympathetic portrayal of starscream is in a comic that arguably isn’t even about him: spotlight megatron. i want it acknowledged that starscream isn’t the easily sympathized-with Good Survivor, the one that always turns the other cheek and is easy to defend. he’s the survivor that lashed out, that apparently ‘deserved it,’ the one that isn’t recovering Right. and that he too is worthy of love. not just the pretty version that isn’t CC. that doesn’t solve anything. as starscream even said in the issue, it doesn’t change anything.

Ughhhhhh yeah I am so glad that other people are as horrifically uncomfy about this one as I am.

A quick sketch because I’m not sure on Whirl’s design, but I have some basic ideas. You’re definitely not wrong, though, poor bird babe ;-;

Empurata in TF:M can be a pretty extensive process, beyond just physical modification. Generally, empuratees also have certain sensory capabilities removed as well as their ability to broadcast an emotional field- this kind of modification requiring that the spark be modified or placed under an additional layer of shielding.

Many respond, over time, with beginning to behave like drones. Personalities fading away without the capability for expression, being treated like nonsapient beings in most social and public contexts, it wears them down and was seen as the penultimate form of punishment for good reason.

Others found new ways to express themselves, a deliberate choice on the part of empurata’s supporters- if empuratees were seen as violent or emotionally disturbed it was only going to help the public image after all- simply say that the mechanism was unstable even prior to the process and let social structures do the rest of the work.

The Wreckers is where you go when nobody can be responsible for your actions anymore. Whirl slots in nicely.

YES! Cygate happiness is extremely important! Especially if combined with, okay. So when they reunite, things are going to be emotionally Complicated, because Tailgate drove him away to protect him, but also hurt him a lot in the process, and then it turns out that if he hadn’t done that thing he wouldn’t have been trapped, maybe there were other ways around this, etc. And Cyclonus has been very thoroughly rejected, down to Tailgate trying to return his innermost energon and him sitting on their corpse ship marking up his own face. As upset as he was, Cyclonus was very delicate about not demanding things from Tailgate. No ‘let me stay with you’, but ‘I don’t want to leave you.’ Statements of emotions rather than requests, which is a subtle but important distinction. Meanwhile, Tailgate is aware of just how much he fucked up Cyclonus.

So when Tailgate shows back up with a new friend.... well........ Tailgate shouldn’t really be the one approaching Cyclonus, not when he just hurt him so badly, right? Or is it that Cyclonus shouldn’t be approaching Tailgate because it would be pressuring him after Tailgate very firmly told him no? Whoops, it’s a stalemate where this is a dynamic where I am honestly T H E R E for romantic ‘oh no he found someone else I will step aside and let them be happy’ tropes. But! Cygate is an unstoppable force of love and even if they’re slow to be willing to reach out to each other again, it’s going to happen. Especially since their hearts start pulling them into orbit around each other again almost right away, never mind that each of them is trying to give the other his space.

And! From that point. We have that electric, passionate Whirl+Killmaster dynamic out there again, and oh my GOODNESS do I ship it. If Tailgate and Killmaster do bond, then there’s a little bit of a buffer in the middle there, where Whirl has been trying to take care of Cyclonus, and Killmaster would be trying to support Tailgate, but once the cygate resolves, they’re free to go for broke, baby! But! From the opposite direction, Cyclonus doesn’t want Whirl getting hurt, and Tailgate doesn’t want Killmaster (or Whirl) getting hurt, and each of them has some leverage to lean on one of the prospective combatants and get them to chill out. 

Plus, once things are calm, I am dead curious about whether Whirl remembers the things Megatron said about him never getting a real fight through the whole war, and how that plays into his interactions with Killmaster. And Killmaster might be able to fight like whoa, but he’s also crazy smart, and I want to see what he’s like when he slows down enough to have a conversation. AND!! Both of them are creative types, where they have different areas of specialty, but they both make delicate, sophisticated mechanical devices. I want bonding, I want potential collaboration for reasons of [plot], and I want whatever sloppy alien makeouts are like when one person is missing a mouth and the other one is made of spikes.

All I can think is "I could be more focused on the punching. Do you want to help me with that? Give me your face."

She sounds super flaky, demanding a kind of flexibility from you that is frankly unreasonable and insulting (of you'd be free the next day; all disabled people sit at home all day, looking out the window forlornly, waiting for someone to grace us with their presence). You're a saint for keeping her on as long as you did, but I get why you'd feel conflicted about letting her go.

The bit that I have bolded is really what irked me. I’ve really tried to be understanding, but the just complete disregard for any idea that making readjustments to my schedule might be inconvenient was infuriating.

If she can't be bothered to be respectful of your time, then you really had no choice. But it's a sucky feeling, so sorry you're dealing with that.

That's completely unprofessional and you were completely justified. We just had a similar situation with one of nanas caregivers and it's a tough one but you deserve to be respected and helped
