It really should not come as a surprise to Ava at this point that the Onceler was not going to even be remotely fun and let her do benign activities in his presence, or with him, and yet here she was. Marginally surprised that he had let her get this far before shutting her down.

    She was a performer, not a modeler. It was an odd choice in offering this job to her of all people. Despite her small size and odd choice in fashion, a man had taken the chance to give this business offer. To model for a new piece of fashion - an art project, in his words. Coming back from her job as a performer (or as a "flapper girl" for her time) and to be met with this offer was a surprise.

    It wasn't permanent, surprisingly. It wouldn't replace her current job, but there was a sense of excitement to it. Something new, something fresh. With some kind of second opinion from friends, she gave the go and agreed. It would be a first time for everything, wasn't it?

    Though, for the modeling process, she was given what she'd be wearing. A "thneed", according to the Onceler. What an odd piece of fabric. Returning to the small stage she had, she wore the thneed, feeling almost bare without her heavy coat.

As much as she wants to smile, sympathetically of course, Agnes knows that that is the last way that she wants to treat the Onceler when he is actively being vulnerable. He is in rare form when he ventures out of the Institute or his own haunts to come find her at her flat.

The air was frigid; snow dusting the ground below them with icicles dangling from the balcony he was balancing himself on the edge of and frost dusting the windows of the building. Trying to 'freeze' the Oncler into submission should of been easy -- simple. Humans generally couldn't stand the cold for longer than short bursts, and many of the workers were finding it increasingly difficult to attempt and chop down half frozen trees; let alone navigate through the icy terrain. His weather stopped work in it's tracks, and it's going on several weeks of this.

... But humans weren't the only things to not be able to handle long amounts of unexpected cold --

They pause and look at him like he's been replaced with somebody else. Normally he's always got some sort of humorous ( or dickhead, depending on how you viewed things ) response. Normally, Veronica doesn't particularly care which it is, and she can usually tell when somebody's being sarcastic or serious. The added clarification must mean it's something important, or he just admitted to being genuine, which is strange and highly off-putting.

WAS   she   a   people   pleaser?   Bee   fell   silent   before   her   gaze   turned   to   meet   the   man's.

"I   think??   I   just   like   making   people   happy?   I   feel   all   warm   and   fuzzy   in   my   guts   And   uh   --   ....."   She   hesitated,   fingers   nervously   poking   together.

she watches the man as he witnesses first hand the carnage at the edge of the Yellow Zone, the Infected mindlessly attacking the Blackwatch soldiers that not even a few moments prior had been in their faces about their presence here. while Elizabeth made sure the grotesque creatures kept their distance, she didn't stop them from slashing and devouring the soldiers, their screams echoing up the street to them. it was like music to her ears; but by the wide eyed horror on the taller man's pale face, she was sure he didn't appreciate it in the same way.

she watches with a small, satisfied smile as some of the soldiers, now Infected, got up from bloody puddles to join the horde. she sighs softly,
