On 1st of August 2021, I found something rather exciting on a Lychee tree.
Online, I cannot find any images of Drepanidae caterpillars that were taken in Australia. This is first for me! There’s actually only a handle of Drepanid species that occur here, most species occur elsewhere (see observation map here).
I don’t have any ID for this caterpillar, but I currently believe it is a Tridrepana species, as its appearance is very similar to other caterpillars in the genus. From what I can find, Tridrepana lunulata is the Tridrepana species in Australia, so perhaps that’s the ID.
