When I read The Outsider series and I think of the events from Rude, Elena, Tseng, Cissnei, Reeve, and Tycos POV, none of them knew what kind of relationship Tess and Reno had going on. Not that they need to, but they’re pretty observant and Turks are nosy gossips. Each figured it was just Reno having a fling or trying to get information. It depends on each character really. Reeve might be the only one from the beginning who saw the small attraction that would soon blossom. But everyone else just thought they were “super close” friends. So I can only imagine how it was for them to see Reno distraught when Tess was missing. And then I can only imagine their surprise when Tess stepped up to demand Reno’s rescue when he went MIA(I wonder if Rufus was always planning to find him or if he was really going to wait it out.. time was not on their side and he was being difficult) . They didn’t think they were that serious and so ride or die for each other. And to be honest, Tess and Reno didn’t think they were so ride or die until the other went missing. Tess may be a regular civilian but she would not just wait in the hospital while Renos out crash landed in the middle of nowhere . So I like that talk cissnei has with Tess, and when Tseng tells Tess “I’m glad Reno’s trust is not misplaced”. I think they see Reno in a whole new light cause he’s the last turk they would have imagined settling down. Also I love when I see Tess, an untrained civilian, still put on her brave face to do the right thing. It can be scary but I love how she pulls through in the end.
