Please elaborate more on why and how you Unpack while traveling if you ever have the time and/or inclination to do so
Sure! Bearing in mind of course that this varies with whether Iām sharing a hotel room, how long Iām staying, etc. But even when Iām couchsurfing at someoneās place, if I have a private space (so Iām not encroaching on their space) I try to unpack. Unless Iām staying only overnight, even if Iām staying only two nights, I like to unpack so I can find everything and also repack efficiently.Ā Ā
When I pack, I pack for space and balance -- I want to fit as much stuff as possible into the bag in a way that the bag is well-balanced, especially if Iām carrying it on my back (my current carry-on is a large backpack). However, this means Iām often not packing in a way that would make rational sense if you wereĀ āliving out of the suitcaseā as it were. The stuff I need to access during transit is always in outer pockets or near the top, but all my underwear could be at the bottom, my pyjamas off to one side, etc. For me, who likes to be able to see everything I might need or use, itās just helpful to lay it all out.Ā
So I unpack the whole-entire bag and start making piles. Tech stuff gets set up and plugged into outlets; tech stuff Iām not using immediately gets put to the side on a desk surface. Toiletries into the bathroom, ditto vitamins/medication and jewelry. Paperwork goes on the desk, or whatever Iāve designated as a desk area, including my pocket āthread bookā that I store receipts and tickets and such in. All food/beverage except reusable water bottle goes either wherever the coffemaker/minifridge is, or somewhere designated as Snack Central. Usually I have a second bag packed in the first that I use when IāmĀ āin townā, often a messenger bag, and that will go by the door, with stuff loaded into it as needed (lip balm, water bottle, couple of granola bars, spare phone battery, hat).Ā
Clothing gets unpacked and either hung up or placed in drawers; often Iāll sort it not by type (underwear, socks, shirts) but by day, like ātomorrow Iām wearing these clothes so Iāll set them out, Saturday Iām wearing these clothes so those go in the drawer, Sunday Iām wearing these clothes so theyāll go in the back of the drawerā. Usually I use another drawer for dirty clothes, or set out the empty suitcase and pack them back into that.Ā
This way I can find the various things I need easily. The only things that stay in my luggage are my house keys, my wallet with my backup cards in it (keycard, corporate card, ID, and travel credit card go into the phone case that attaches to my bag).
So for example, this time Iām in a room alone with two beds, a coffee hutch, and a desk, plus the usual closet and dresser. Laptop, paperwork, workout clothes on the desk; toiletries and pills in the bathroom; snacks next to the coffee machine. My outfits for the next few days are laid out on the bed I wonāt be using; my phone and headphones are plugged into my portable USB hub which is plugged in on the nightstand. āTown bagā by the door with supplies in it; nearby is a small stand where Iāve put some items for an event Iām attending (sunscreen, hat, water bottle) that will be packed in the town bag on the morning of the event. Everything sorted, everything in a specific place I can find it and visible.Ā
I thought I was neurotypical for forty two years.
Anyway then I usually collapse across the bed or in a chair with a soda and bask for a while. Although in this case I also ran out to Burger King real quick and treated myself to some chicken fries.Ā

Possibly, although I posted well after the show was done -- at 9:30 on Wednesday nights and 10:15 on Saturday nights in the summer, Navy Pier does a fireworks show. You may have been hearing people setting off their own fireworks after the show, I did see some of that.Ā

Your playlist is quite different from mine! Hopefully you don't mind if I check them out-- I'm always on the lookout for songs with high BPM for exercising... š
I donāt mind at all! A lot of those arenāt actually high BPM though, fair warning -- theyāre meant to match my running pace, which is rather slow, and some are meant to be timed walk intervals. Also thereās a couple on there that are bootlegged off podcasts so if you canāt find them, thatās probably why.Ā

I ride on the lakefront and people call "on your right/left" all the time. Maybe it's just the folks in the city streets proper?
Thatās wholly possible. My range is basically from LaSalle to the lake and from Archer to Ohio, generally (occasionally I get out into west loop) and while thereās a ton of bike traffic, a) itās still deeply urban and b) it tends to be people who are riding for purpose rather than for leisure/workouts.Ā

Pretty sure Chicago is just rude
treesah
As a Pittsburgh cyclist who started cycling in Chicago and then stopped to increase my chances of continuing to live, I concur that Chicago is just rude. And itās not like Pittsburgh has a reputation for being polite or anything, people just know how to act on a bike or around them
Oh my god Iām having the worst existentialĀ āAre we the baddies?ā moment. Chicagoans are normally so friendly! But also most Chicagoans I think donāt do much bike riding, so the ones who do are....are maybe....

Wait but Captain America could be bi!?!? He was clearly super into Peggy at the same time he was pining over Bucky
Oh 100%! And if we include the possibility of him being Bi, that means even more people care about Capās sexuality than that random assholeās opinion.Ā

maybe you've made oven-baked pudding?
Thatās basically how it turned out. Which is especially interesting since it has neither milk nor eggs in...

Well if they taste nice you can say they are some random creation
They do actually taste decent. A strange texture, but an ok flavor.

That is...well within the realm of possibility. How in (insert higher power of your choice)'s name did you get brownies to bubble?
Well, I used yogurt instead of eggs. Now, Iāve done this before, but always before itās been greek yogurt, and this time it was plain, plus I was tinkering with the coconut oil to butter ratio. I think it may have been the extra whey in the yogurt.

eh, even if you are secretly a filth monster, if you live alone and are happy with your style, then it's good... right?
This is true, though I try not to be a filth monster around others if I can avoid it :D
