Update:
It's Rudy!
Now with 300% more Rudy
After we released Rudy (what we thought was a broken foot must have just been bruised, bc he was fine this morning~♡) we heard a TON of screaming about an hour later. Cut to us looking in the tree outside to find either Rudy or his sister (the greyer one we've named Jean,) caught in a branch and spinning around frantically, while the other one screamed for help.
Then as we were trying to figure out how we were going to do that, and where Mama might be
A LONG GOLDENY BLOB FELL LIKE THREE STORIES OUT OF OUR GIGANTIC TREE
So that's Oro.
For anyone counting at home, we're up to a minimum of 3 young squirrels FREAKING OUT.
As we're inspecting Oro and holding him upside down to keep him from aspirating on his bloody nose, we notice the screaming has lessened, and there just... suddenly is another squirrel on the ground. The one we're now calling Jean.
So I go off and slowly chase an extremely healthy Jean around the backyard, because at this point, we are definitely, 100% taking these babies to a rescue.
In the meantime, we're remembering that there was a very unlucky, flat squirrel just outside our house around four days ago, and realize these kittens were probably hers.
After I finally get Jean under control and pried carefully off the tree OH WOW a very Intimidatingâ„¢ Mister Big Squirrel (aka barely bigger than his siblings) is giving me a threat display as we tuck Jean in with Oro. Growling away and buzzing his tiny furry head off.
We have dubbed him Chainsaw
And once we had all his siblings (hopefully) all together, Rudy came right on down to join the party.
So now we have four young squirrels and a call out to a rehabilitator. For the most part they're very healthy, just a bit on the young side to be alone, as they all still call for Mama (or in Rudy's case, me ♡) and haven't really learned to groom themselves yet, relying on their siblings for now instead.
And here's Mama Chipmunk who was watching from the gutter to make sure everything was going to be okay
They've had a nice big meal of peanuts and carrots, and are all sleeping soundly for the time being!

Red Squirrel with Color Pencils [Time Lapse]
All the babies have made it safely to a rehabilitator!
Got sent on a telephone based train of craziness all across the state, and finally ended up with the first rehabilitator to have space to take them, and it turned out she lives less than ten minutes away!
The idea is for her to keep them a few weeks, and hopefully bring them back here to be released, though more than likely they're going to be "soft released" in her area, as she has a setup ready to go for just that already.
Still, I'm proud we were able to do what we have done, and glad we found someone who seems as genuinely interested in their wellbeing as I am ♡♡
Be safe my babies, and best of luck~
I love you~♡
