Physician Heal Thyself
There were certain things you didn’t want to hear from a doctor. “Oops” was probably amongst the worst, as well as “uh oh” or “oh no” and Trent himself was not particularly fond of “I have made a mistake.” Which was not to say he didn’t make mistakes, of course he did, but at least he didn’t usually do something that hit that particular sour note.
Usually.
It was both a good thing that Trent hadn’t been with anyone else - no one had seen his foolish misstep - and a bad thing - no one was there to help break his fall or help him up. Or so he thought.
He’d gone down with a startled yelp, landing on hands and knees against the hard packed earth of the trail he’d been running on. He had no idea what he’d stumbled over, only that he had, and now his hands were burning and one knee ached. Not precisely in a “you need to call someone” way, but most definitely in a “you’re going to hate yourself the whole way home” way.
Trent grit his teeth, fingers curling in the dirt, and muttered a single, “Ow.”
