Formerly Millie, they teased her for not fitting into the female gender mold, for being too smart, and obviously for having two tails instead of one. She was far more interested in mechanics, vehicles, and machines than she was with things associated with femininity. After the bullying was pushed too far, she ran away into the forest to try and get away from all of the pain she was feeling.

That was when she met Sonic. The fox, 8 at the time, followed the blue hedgehog until she found his plane on the beach. When they spoke for the first time, Sonic mistook Millie for a male. Just being referred to as male was enough to make everything finally click into place for Millie, who then took on the name Miles. Suddenly, he felt so much more authentic to himself. He wasn’t just a “tomboy” or a weird girl who didn’t fit in. He was a he.

Its nearly finished my first fully painted piece. A lot of mistakes were made.

peter’s been out for a while, and flash wants to clear some things up

peter parker has known flash thompson since he was a little kid

which isn’t that rare, he’s known a lot of people since he was a little kid

but a lot of them don’t remember who he had to be, and even if they do, they don’t really care

flash is different, of course, because sometimes he can be an asshole and he likes to tease peter and say mean shit- which is kind of okay, he’s not ruined over it, he just knows that’s how flash is

peters been dressing more masculine since he came out to may, and although people have noticed, it’s not that big of a deal

other than the occasional stare or whisper where he catches the word “lesbian” under their breath

sophomore year starts, and peter starts going on t

he’s worried about the teasing from flash, of course, but nothing happens

flash isn’t even at school.

there were multiple rumors flying around

he got a girl pregnant, he got expelled, he was at boarding school, he died, multiple ridiculous things that peter chose to ignore

because it didn’t matter

because flash wasn’t there, so he didn’t have to worry about getting teased

after that, things started to really look up for him

peter gets bit by the spider and his body transforms into what it was always meant to be

he loses all of his baby fat, especially in his chin area, which practically killed him every day

his jaw is way more defined, his shoulders are more broad, and his six pack is the greatest thing that ever happened to him

and he’s happy, for the first time in what feels like forever

until flash comes back to school

suddenly, strangely, he’s back

and a little bit different, quieter

he sits toward the back of the class and understands the current lessons with no problem, that’s just the way his brain works

he’s smart

and he even comes back to the academic decathlon team, but now he’s peter’s alternate, which can’t be fun

but so far nothing has happened, he’s okay, he’s happy, and flash has generally left him alone

except for the staring

his constant, confused, unsubtle staring he does whenever he thinks peter isn’t looking

he can’t blame him too much, flash hasn’t been at school for a few month (the crucial months of his transition) so seeing peter as peter and not anyone else, is probably strange for him

and because they don’t really talk to each other, peter has been bracing himself for the ignorant, intruding questions flash was going to ask

during a chemistry lecture, while he can feel the burning of eyes into his back, someone taps his shoulder

when he turns around, there’s a blonde girl holding up a small, folded piece of paper, “from flash” she whispers

next to him, ned gives him a strange look, but peter only shrugs his shoulders and opens up the note

“your name is peter now?” the note says in neat, blocky handwriting

the brunette turns around once his teacher stops paying attention, and finds flash looking at him again

this time, he doesn’t try to hide it, but his fingers tap anxiously against the desk, and you can tell he’s waiting for his response

peter nods his head

flash blinks, then gives an awkward, half smile and a thumbs up

peter blinks, returning the thumbs up

what the hell was that?????

why’d he give a thumbs up????

and why did peter give one bACk???

the remaining thirty minutes in the class seem to drag on forever, and all peter has are his worried thoughts

he should feel relieved that flash isn’t being transphobic, but as he’s leaving class, the boy tries to catch up with him, and it only makes him feel worse

“hey, um, peter.” he says it like he’s trying to get used to the way it sounds

“yeah?”

“i just wanted to tell you that I’m sorry about being a jerk before. it was hard for me to...see you being so comfortable with yourself.”

peter is a little confused

flash notices, “like, when you like, started to dress like a dude? it made me realize some stuff about myself, and when my parents noticed they flipped their shit and like, sent me to this weird ass christian camp- have you seen that super old movie, but im a cheerleader? it was kind of like that but with less color coordination.”

peter is very confused

“anyway, im sorry about being a douche before. im not promising you that ill stop, but like, the penis jokes are done.”

peter blinks, “...okay.”

“yeah” flash says, now looking incredibly embarrassed. he rubs the back of his neck, “that’s all”

he blinks again, “okay”

flash wants to die, “okay” he mumbles

then he slowly, awkwardly turns around and heads down the crowded hallway.

peter watches him leave with a million thoughts in his mind.

“wait!” peter calls after him, working his way through the crowd of students

the brown skinned boy turns around, eyes casted toward the ground to hide how they shine with weld tears

“what?” flash snaps angrily, stuffing his hands into the pocket of his skinny jeans

“were you implying that you had a crush on me?”

flash blinks, then frowns, “was it not obvious, parker? I bothered you every damn day.”

peter shakes his head, “that’s not what normal people do when they have crushes!”

“clearly im not a normal person, jesus! get off my back, im already embarrassed enough.” flash exclaims, eyes wide and mouth in a scowl.

“alright, look” peter starts, “you’re normal, okay? about as normal as me, anyway.”

flash exhales, and peter doesn’t know if he’s relieved or trying to calm himself down.

“yeah.”

“maybe if you had just told me instead of bullying me, things would’ve gone differently.”

flash looks at him for a moment before a giggles bursts through his mouth, “yeah, right parker. you’re not really in my league.”

is that a compliment? is flash complimenting him?

he begins to walk away, “im gonna be late for econ.”

peter nods, “yeah, uh i should probably get going.” he turns around to walk toward his next class, but a barely audible, “um” stops him

they face each other again

“the name peter really suits you.” says flash thompson, a shy look on his face, “kinda like it was always meant to be yours.”

and with that, he’s gone
