I still hate that this guy was the one Ash lost to in Unova. (Like, even Ash is getting fed up with Cameron being an ill-informed dingus here, and this is well before he sleeps in on League registration and before he inadvertently disadvantages himself by bringing only 5 Mons to a 6v6. Say what you will about Tobias’s two Legendaries being bullshit, and yeah, I agree. But at least it was impressive that Ash managed to take them down when no one else could handle just Darkrai.)
Like, what was the point of bringing back Virgil? At least he had he cool gimmick of an Eeveelution team, and they could have potentially teased Gen6 by having Eevee evolve into Sylveon? That would have caused more hype and given fans more to talk about than instead of just “Oh well he lost another League again, whatever.”
This is an opinion that’ll get me crucified, but it makes sense that Cameron beat Ash. Anyone who’s fought Ghetsis knows things can go wrong VERY quickly when a Hydreigon hits the field! What doesn’t make sense is that he cockblocked us out of the promised showdown with Virgil, especially when the showrunners most certainly knew a new Eeveelution was coming in the next generation and basically threw away free promotion for it! Hell, don’t even reveal the Fairy-type at that point! Just have Sylveon body Pikachu with Swift and Trump Card, and no one ever has to know until the games themselves come out! Shit, give Trip a W before Ash inevitably humbles him! Why was the Unova League botched so badly?!?
