Thomas the Tank Engine android AU which takes place in the far future, when humanity has spread across the cosmos and sentient androids coexist with them.
The trains are robots who were designed to pilot supersonic space trains across a network of interplanetary and interstellar railways, by temporarily uploading their consciousnesses into them. The Famous Eight reside in New Sodor, a highly advanced settlement within Proxima Centauri’s solar system.
What started as a fun sci-fi AU eventually evolved into an Edward-centric romantic drama because watching old school TTTE fuelled my late Victorian aesthetic itch, which in turn prompted me to rewatch all of Emma: a Victorian Romance. I’m still getting into the swing of digital painting, so this is about as good an homage to Kaoru Mori which I can pay.
Edward is the only trainbot with flight-capable wings, and they play an important symbolic role in this story. He used to have a pair of seagull-coloured wings before the events of Old Iron led to them getting replaced with dragonfly-shaped ones.
Expect an Edward-James-Gordon love-triangle
