Back out on the trails
They call me Trail Killa in my running group because I had a rep send me some shoes addressed to Leah "Trail Killa" and now after 3 weeks off with an ankle injury I ran 10 road miles yesterday and felt mostly fine. This run on sentence is to say that today is my first day back out tackling trails. It should be an easy 6 miles but mentally this is more intimidating than my 10. I'm literally staring at my ankle, almost back to its normal size, I've been cleared by my doctor to train but the thought of spraining it again or tearing anything new is scary. But then again, so is training for a 50K, and I didn't think I could ever even run that far ever but here I am, writing run sentences and waxing poetic to Tumblr about it. If I stick to my training plan exactly for the next 8 weeks I'll be able to do it, and do it pretty well. If something else goes wrong I'll drop to the 30K, but damnit I want that 50. Here's to Sunday running and here's to happy trails.
