I found out recently that 'tom' is a term for a male turkey and 'jake' a term for a somewhat younger male turkey. DO YOU THINK THEY KNOW. DO YOU THINK THEIR PARENTS KNOW. DO YOU THINK MARCO KNOWS.
Obviously Marco doesn't know, or else it would've come up in canon approximately 40,000 times.
We can only hope they died without ever knowing, but who knows.
Their parents totally knew. Cutesy names were all the rage in the 1980s - 1990s. I'm part of a set of siblings named (specifics altered) Ryan, Rory, and Rowan Robinson. I had twins in my class named Bailey and Kaylee, not to be confused with the twins Benjamin and Brianna. Not to mention the trend around using Billy or Maggie (or Tom or Jake, for that matter) as someone's full first name, consigning them to exactly one nickname for their entire life. Someone pointed it out, they decided it'd be adorable, and here we are. Jake can only thank his lucky stars they decided not to have three kids named Tom, Dick, and Harry.
