Philippinophobia is and was when I as a child never saw any Filipinos represented around me. I thought I was "rare," people around me didn't know what a Filipino even was. I was ignored when we discussed world languages in class and I brought up Tagalog; the teacher simply remained quiet. It felt like always having to bring up that part of my race as a mixed person for any acknowledgement of it ever.
Philippinophobia can be invisibility.
This is Philippinophobia.
I've went through the same things when I was younger. I thought filipinos were rare or unknown because I never saw them in discussions about asian countries and I didn't see any Filipino representation in non-Filipino shows growing up. I didn't even know Filipinos were asians up until i was 12 years old
Filipinos deserve more respect and representation, we shouldn't have to give others a reminder that we do exist and we are part of Asia.
