Anime only fans will never know the absolute HORROR we felt when we met HIM
Genderbend Barbara
A relatable weeb moment
I wonder how many weebs wish they have the smartest anime character's braincells when they take the SAT test (or any test in particular). While I was doing the SAT test, I imagined Norman casually completing the SAT test in a minute at most without breaking a sweat and receiving the highest score possible. I swear TPN orphans make tests look easy af, especially you *points at Norman.*
I have finally started writing my Emma Ratri AU fic

IM HYPERVENTILATING
Damn, it really seems like Norman is trying to use human pawns(those 'adams') to corner Sonju and Mujika - I really doubt the two demons would be able to get away without killing/hurting some of them, which in turn would make killing Sonju "justified" and detaining Mujika a lot less troublesome. (norman my boy i want to believe in you but you're making it real difficult rn 😭😭)
Okay, so let me explain why I don't think Norman intends to sacrifice the clones
I know that many people have assumed once we saw Norman march to war with a clone army, that his plan to wage a bloodless war against demons was to use these seemingly mindless clones as cannon fodder.
We have seen the same thing happen in many forms of media, like Star Wars, where countless clones are sacrificed in the war.
But I think that assumption is entirely wrong here. Shirai-san likes to trick the readers into assumptions like these, but I think the facts actively disprove it.
Based on what we know about Norman's plans, he doesn't want to sacrifice ANY humans, clones or not. He clearly states that his plan is to have demons fight demons:
We know that Gilan is only one part of Norman's plan, he hasn't revealed his full plan to us yet.
So I think there is another way in which he intends to make demons fight demons, and the key to that I believe is the mystery drug/chemical that we saw Vincent complete.
Again, we are not told what this chemical is, we only see Vincent experiment, and feed food infused with it to a rat-like demon. We know that this experiment is based off of a theoretical idea that Norman came up with, and that Norman is not only extremly intelligent, but has in-depth studied demon physiology and genetics on the lambda guards.
We are specifically not shown what happens to the rat-like demon, but lots of people have assumed that it may be a poison. After all it makes sense to try to assassinate the royals with poison, and we know from Norman that a weakness of demons is their genetic code's proneness to instability.
Based off that, it should be relatively easy to make a chemical that increases the instability and destroys them...
However, just a poison isn't very effective to handle whole armies of demons, and it won't achieve the goal of making them fight each other. There is however something that we have observed demons do:
Demons sometimes eat each other.
We have seen intelligent demons choose to do it, but in unintelligent, animalistic demons it appears to be triggered automatically, by some chemical reaction perhaps, like hormones released?
So the thing is, what if that drug that Vincent completed makes demons fight other demons? That seems like a lot more effective way of handling a war against demons where the goal is to avoid human casualties.
I think the clone fighters are still necessary because you probably need superhuman fighters to be able to administer these drugs to a large number of demons.
It is probably still risky, but fighting to just injure a demon is a lot easier than trying to kill them, and a lot less suicidal.
So this brings me back to the clone fighters sent against Son-ju and Mujika:
They have weapons, but I think everyone knows that they are unlikely to be able to defeat Son-ju, who is an expert warrior. However, if they can stall and distract him enough for that drug to be administered to him or Mujika... well then, it will be suddenly a fight between two demons.
Tbh, if anything, that is even more horrifying to imagine than the scenario you outlined in the ask. Since demons forced to fight and kill each other was exactly the nightmare scenario imagined by Emma... that happening with Son-ju and Mujika would be extreme levels of horror, something that I wouldn't put past Shirai-san planning...
I mean, these panels are basically foreshadowing Norman's plans anyway. If I am right, then Norman just wanted to start this process a lot sooner than we or Emma thought possible with that drug.
You might find Norman's plan horrible, but at the end of the day, he really cares about ALL of the humans, and his methods may be horrific, but his actions are out of love. We saw how much he cared for simple factory human clones as well:
He was upset that he couldn't save them, and really angry at the situation they were forced into, and at the demons who created that situation...
I think looking at him caring about these clones proves it impossible to me that he would be planning on sacrificing the clones in his army.
Yes, Adam was seen to have serious developmental issues some of which the other clones created at lambda may or may not have, and Barbara and the rest has a limited time to live, but I believe Norman wants all of them to be able to live those lives to the fullest they can.
So I think he has a lot of compassion for humans, but he has no compassion for demons unfortunately. Well, he never had any positive experiences with any demons so far, so it makes sense to me...
Edit:
Uh-huh, I just realized that the plan may be scheduled for tifari, since everyone likes to eat festival food, so if someone were to be able to gain access to supplies and put that drug into all the food... then suddenly a large part of the population would go berserk and attack each other...
Meanwhile the army would be distracted with Gilan attacking, and then handling the royals in all that confusion (if their food hasn't already been drugged) would be even easier...
Oh yeah, and regarding drugging Son-ju, wouldn’t it be the angstiest if Don and Gilda were tricked into giving him drugged food, since Son-ju trusts them? Maybe that was the real reason Norman sent those two.
If that goes to plan, even if Mujika survives, she probably would still feel betrayed by humans, and wouldn't be very keen on giving her blood to help Emma's cause of peaceful co-living anymore.
This really sounds like the ultimate angsty twist.
