@riz.rollins instructed me to meet he and @leandergreeny at @lepichetseattle after work. They missed me. They knew French cuisine was the only way to get me out of hiding. How wise they are. . We laugh in the warmth of the cafe over pitchers of red wine and thick, fried potatoes. Duck Confit. Carrot salad with currents and parsnip pureé. . I'm introduced to Kim, a gristled man with warm hands and a salt streaked ponytail, and Alan, a conservative counter to his dining companion. Riz alerts me that he's known Kim for over 20 years. He used to joke with him all the time when Chris was alive. . "Chris?" I ask, tethering assumptions. . "Yeah, Chris Cornell. Kim is from Soundgarden." . I nod. I don't feel giddy about my casual exchange with a legend. I was more intrigued with his cheese plate and wine choice. . We pile into the car and zoom to the 'theater' in East Lake. I dressed up, despite being warned not to. I should have listened. . 'Theater' was a hardcore variety drag show Fuktup filled with jello, fake blood, an on stage birth, confetti, dark Christmas carols, balled up white bread, a few hammers and cheesy poofs thrown into the crowd. . I was blessed on the forehead with testicles. Big ones that were hard as rocks. I'm still picking confetti out of my hair. . The highlight of the night was Roxanne, the Boa Constructor. Her owner, Tryied, smiled as she came to me on her own volition. . "I think she likes you. Have you handled snakes before?" . "No, but I love animals. They love me back. No agenda." . Roxanne coiled around me, delighted that my hair was warm carpet as she slithered her way under my purple hat to rest. . Having 10+ pounds of snake around you is an experience, but Roxanne and I bonded enough that she tightened around me as Tryied tried to remove her. . "Come on, Sweety. You aren't mine. You have to go home." . She unwound herself with sad reluctance. Rob took pictures. Riz wasn't having any of that snake action. #totheleft . It was intriguing, y'know, to bond with a snake and communicate without words, just energy.
