Modular system that is surrounding a political two party system on election night.

Due to the skyrocketing costs of living and working in large cities, many cultural workers are forced to turn their homes into multi-functional spaces. This arrangement not only complicates the balance between work and life, but also transforms a formerly private and seclusive place into a public stage of production where one has to be constantly accessible and presentable to the world. Since our homes, workspaces, and the rest of the world have now been compressed into more complicated arrangements, Total Effekt proposes Sterling Safe Room, a modular system that offers a way to create another space within the home: A kind of mental shield within the live/work structure. Each visitor is free to play with this modular system to construct walls, cubicles, or shelters, or any other structure that helps her or him to temporarily and symbolically retreat from the endless economic demands and pressures.
