pros:

when you find new content, it feels like hitting the jackpot

it has its own little unexplored, niche trove on the Internet that is shared and tended to by a small but very devoted fan base

when you do on rare occasion meet/interact with other people in the same fandom, it's the best

cons:

you have to scour the Internet just to find tasty morsels of content to nibble on

not enough people appreciate it

it's hard to find people to talk about it with
