Did y'all know donut shaped planets could exist without breaking the laws of physics? They can’t form in nature though, which is a damn shame since HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE TO LIVE ON!?!?! Anyway, I want to write a story containing this concept, so I decided fuck it, why not draw one too?

Reaching the end of a world map in a classic JRPG game sends you to the opposite end of the map. This is how most world maps worked back in the 2D days, and this is why these worlds are actually donut-shaped (or more precisely, toroidal), as WolfieMario's GIFs of Chrono Trigger show.

Toroids began as a curiosity passed between people at Wildfire--at first they were just buzzsaws that people would turn around in a circle with. Recently they've become more popular, so I wanted to highlight what I think is the video that really made them viable as a trick. e6 is a good friend from the DC area who also used to make the trek to Wildfire frequently. He is also the first person to show how a clean toroid could actually look like something performance worthy instead of just plane-bend flailing with this video. Dig his super clean lines and nifty ideas for switching between what eventually became known as isobend and antibend toroids.
