maybe i only have one braincell bc it’s 1 AM but I thought about how the “happy dream” Basils you find all believed Omori would save them and waited patiently, delighted when you show up.
I wonder if that’s a manifestation of Sunny also wanting to save/help him IRL and maybe fearing attempting to do so will only make things worse / escalate - or the horrific things happening being extreme ways of portraying the fears/anxiety/PTSD that are inherently tied to confronting him (especially IRL since he can’t just erase all the parts he doesn’t like (to think about) there) again.
[addition from the next day: though some of the cruel things are of course his conflicted feelings and hatred for parts of Basil]
edit2: it could also be read as him feeling overwhelmed by knowing that basil needs him/feels alone, therefore the horrible things happening and letting him die/killing him in some instances.
