So 2 of my all time favorite hands down anime of all time is Ghost Hunt and Princess Tutu. And though I havenāt engaged with Mushishi nearly as mush as these two, itās also one of the shows I love so much. And I just thought itād be fun to point out some aspects it shares with my top 2 that makes sense why I love it too.
1. The soundtrack. Itās such a nostalgic beauty, perfectly aligns with the tone of the show and immerses you into the story. The soundtrack elevates the anime SO SO MUCH and Iām a sucker for a soundtrack gone right. And fun fact, Toshio Masuda, the composer for the Mushishi soundtrack ALSO composed the soundtrack for Ghost Hunt. The vibes for both are just immaculate, I can listen to both soundtracks all day (and I have done so many times). And then PTutu with the classical BANGERS?!?! Instrumentals go so hard for all 3.
2. Case by case story line. All three shows have a different focal story for the viewer. Ginkgo is a traveling Mushi master that we get to see interact with different people and the mushi affecting their lives in each episode. In PTutu, we discover a new heart shard hiding within the residents of Goldcrown town and return to the Prince. And Ghost Hunt focuses on a new case file every few episodes. And every individual story has more depth to them than meets the eye.
3. Between PTutu and Mushishi, thereās a fun oracle like narration aspect going on before the start of an episode
4. A lot of shared English VAs among all 3 šš Todd Haberkorn was in his BAG back then.
5. Open ending aspects. Thereās never a clear cut conclusion for the people we see in Mushishi. Ginkgo shows up, does what he can to help and then moves along. Ghost Hunt has pretty ambiguous endings to each case as well. The conclusion is inferred by the viewer but leaves room for speculation and questions. And then the ending for PTutu is bittersweet but also leaves some threads for the viewer to pick at. Was Duckās presence ever truly gone in the end or did she legit have a lingering impact? What exactly is Fakir actually writing? Drosselmyer and Uzura?? Where are they going?
6. The absence of the trademark bold color anime hair, wild design and usage of over powered moves. Thereās the exception of white hair and unique styles but overall the character designs are rather simplistic and realistic. And with there being powers/magic involved, characters are still semi limited by their human nature. With PTutu characters are limited more by their fate and intentions. In Mushishi, Gingko doesnāt have all the answers and canāt save everybody.
7.) SUCHHHHHH unique premises. A bit of a darker tone but thereās still substance there and a decent balance
Princess Tutu fanarts I made in the last year. Princess Tutu is a very special anime to my heart, it completely changed my way of seeing things and writing stories. š¦¢š©°š
polycule powerful enough to literally defy fate
My Princess Tutu cameo shaker charms are back in stock, and now both she and Fakir are in my Ko-fi shop as well as on Etsy!:

Sliiiiding a coin into the slot for fakiru opinions
My most controversial fakiru opinion is normie shit on tumblr but I do think theyāre so so SO much better for not being explicitly romantic and not getting together. I see people on other social media sites like omg itās so heartbreaking fakiru never got together WRONG! WRONG!!!! I canāt think of a better portrait of unconditional love
She canāt reciprocate his affection whether she wants to or not and he never thinks less of her for it. Their relationship is never transactionalāheās not āgettingā any sort of romantic gratification for choosing her and yet none of that matters! None of that matters!! He loves Duck exactly as she is and thatās enough. She gave him his hope back and when sheās lost sight of a future for herself he returns the gift she gave him and creates a future her side.
All of this doesnāt have the same punch if he TOLD her he loves her or if they kissed or any other thing to make it explicitly romanticāthatās putting pressure on her to reciprocate.
Idk it matters a lot to me because as a teenager being on the aroace spectrum I thought Iād never be āgood enoughā for anyone to CHOOSE me over a traditional romance and then I watched princess tutu and it was like oh. Oh. Sometimes just being yourself even if you donāt have the capacity for a traditional romance will still draw the people that matter to you
I HAVE FEELINGS OK
Wips!! I started a new job so I havenāt had as much energy to draw as Iād like but Iām adjusting finally hehe more fakiru time
