Really interesting article via the New York Times. Â No longer does every company look to positive NPV evaluations and using investment banks when analyzing deals (though we've already seen this through numerous "acqui-hire" deals, I guess) - sometimes it's just more important to pass the "toothbrush test" - is this a product you would use once or twice a day? Â
I like where this is going - judging deals solely based upon hard NPV numbers is incredibly limiting - other more qualitative metrics must be used in this process, and some companies are finally beginning to recognize this - with Silicon Valley leading the charge, of course.
