Asking 'cause i've seen people circulating the posts about youtube removing community captions in general on insta, and i'm worried that people over there might worry over something that isn't fully true,, ]
Unfortunately I’m not super active on Instagram so my reach over there is even smaller than it is here.
I’d love to see a member of the HOH or deaf communities do their own take on the post to stop the spread of misinformation in a way that is better articulated and more inclusive than mine, though! It was never intended to go as far as it did, and has unintentionally singled out folks who are directly affected by the upcoming changes rather than just the ones spreading blatant misinformation.
As happy as I am that my post put many folks’ minds at ease, I’m not too proud to admit that I am not the person who should continue fighting that battle elsewhere. I stand by most of what I said in my post, however I do not stand by how I said it - my tone or wording. My area is research. My people skills and foresight are heavily lacking at times; This is one of them. I could have done far better and at this point I don’t trust myself to do it properly given a second chance without thorough input from the community affected.
