The ads on Tumblr are mostly served by external services. It's these special "partnered promotions" with human elements that are fuckin' shit up.

Don't get me wrong, in hindsight the One Piece thing as an example would have been cool, *had it been opt-in* or introduced differently. A good chunk of its fandom LOVED it. That type of promo has the potential to be gold on this platform and advertisers know it.

The reason my brain immediately goes to "new hire" is that these campaigns would land perfectly under one very specific condition: If Tumblr lived up to its "reputation", which it doesn't.
