I genuinely believe that the Korean Peninsula should be reunited into one country. I hope for peace and reunification as a way to bring families, cultures, and societies together to grieve and heal from the Korean War. While the common misconception is thought that the Korean War is over, it's not. The Cold War is not over with constant red baiting to anyone who expresses any empathy to northern Korea, rather than agreeing with media outlets that the "hermit kingdom" is a fucked up place.
What I saw was beautiful and transformative. A place that many have not gone to, but so many seem to already know it's a horrible oppressive place. Yet, I felt the most accepted and wanted there. Queer, Adopted, Fat, Tattooed, Loud, Cheerful. I was accepted as part of the Korean Diaspora.
