Album Number Two Hundred Eighty Nine. “Creedence Gold” is a compilation album of Creedence Clearwater Revival released in 1972. More Creedence Gold formed the second part, released in 1973. My copy is on Fantasy Records - F-9418. (I don’t know if it’s a reissue, but that label is suspect. Always love the uniqueness of albums that can have foldout options like this.) The original vinyl release featured pictures of the band under the colored profile flaps on the cover. Overseas releases switched the cover art, with the band photo on the front, and the colored silhouettes on the back. Album Number Two Hundred Eighty Seven “Mardi Gras” is the seventh and final studio album by Creedence Clearwater Revival, released on April 11, 1972. Recorded after the departure of guitarist #tomfogerty , it was their only studio album as a trio, with the group also sharing lead vocals on select tracks. The recording sessions were marred by personal and creative tensions, and the group disbanded after a short U.S. tour to support the album. My copy is a 1983 reissue on #fantasyrecords - ORC 4518 (F-9404) Unlike previous albums, Mardi Gras had #stucook and #dougclifford sharing songwriting and production with #johnfogerty as well as their own lead vocal contributions for the first time. Reviews were mixed to poor. After ten years of struggling as the Blue Velvets and the Golliwogs, singer/guitarist #johnfogerty, his brother guitarist #TomFogerty, bassist #stucook and drummer #dougclifford scored a No. 11 hit single with "#susieq" in June 1968 under the name Creedence Clearwater Revival. Their self-titled album peaked at No. 52 on the Billboard albums chart.
