Thank you for keeping up with my work on Instagram as well.
Self Defense a.k.a. Siege (1983) Kinda amusing how the poster for this tries to paint it as some Death Wish wannabe when the actual movie is about people coming under attack from a right wing hate group after a gay man fleeing a massacre seeks shelter there. A seedy little Canucksploitation action / siege horror hybrid -- it’d make a solid double feature with Assault on Precinct 13 -- with one of the ballsier final shots I can remember. Wouldn’t be surprised if the makers of The Purge movies were fans. It’s on Shudder and on blu-ray from Severin under the title Siege.

I couldn’t possibly gif this. It’s three minutes and thirty five seconds of pure poetry.Â
Cat Ballou. That is all.
Cat Ballou - Marvin plays against type and earns a supporting actor award
Oddball, slapstick musical western featuring the role(s) that won Lee Marvin an oscar. Jane Fonda plays the title character, a rancher's daughter whose father gets murdered in the early reels by a bad guy hired by the railroad, and she enlists the help of a formerly famous gunfighter, now a pathetic drunk, Kid Shalleen (Lee Marvin, playing both 'the Kid' and the bad guy who murders her father), and a trio of bumbling cohorts in order to start up a 'train robbing gang' to exact revenge on the railroad.
Marvin is hilarious, and the movie is punctuated by interesting 'folk song narration' by Stubby Kaye and Nat King Cole. Aside from that, the rest of the cast is sub-par and the predictable plot and broad comedy are forgettable.
