"Her paintings are just so expensive! Even the copies cost more than I make in a year," Sebastian began, "I knew you really liked them and today is, well you know what today is. I just wanted to surprise you." "So just what is today, Jim?" John asked pinning Moriarty against a wall while the Yarders closed in on Moran. "That was really sweet of you and you would have pulled it off if only you'd waited until after the opening but I understand why you didn't," Jim smiled proudly at his sniper.
"So he's not in trouble?" Sherlock asked, disappointed.
"Why would he be in trouble for going above and beyond for my birthday?" Moriarty grinned at John and Sherlock. "But seeing as the gig is up, dear, you should return the paintings to the birthday girl." He winked at Moran.
"Your birthday?!" A chorus of voices asked.
"You'd have loved 'em, Boss. She's got all your favorite people to throw darts at." Moran grinned at the group.
"What?!" Moriarty actually looked shocked for once.
"What-Who are the pictures of, Kris?" John asked.
Kris looked a bit sheepish. ""This was supposed to be a special showing. All new art. I did in honor of some of my favorite people of London. No one knew what the pieces were except my agent and the gallery. I've been following your's and Sherlock's adventures and all the people you've helped and worked with. So," but before she could continue, Moran waved several of his underlings in with her paintings. Everyone gasped.
As each picture was hung, the group's mouths and eyes got wider, more in awe. There was a painting of Sherlock, elegant in his coat. One of John, gun drawn, jaw set. Another one of the two of them, looking at each other, John a look of "don't even think it" Sherlock a barely contained eye roll but smiling at John. A tender look at Mrs. Hudson and her boys. Lestrade and the Yarders at a scene. Mycroft cool and distant. Anthea and Molly back to back, two powerful women in differnt ways. There was even one of little Billy hunched over a microscope with Sherlock looking on in approval. It was quite a scene, everyone in their togas walking around admiring the paintings.
"Surprise," Kris said gleefully. "You weren't supposed to find out until after the press release. I was going to gift them to each of you when the show was over. These were done for you, not for me." She noticed there was one piece missing, but being it was also his birthday and he would have gotten the painting after all, she didn't mention the one of Moriarty and the crown jewels.
