Does make you wonder what he said to cause those head turns
Umbrellas and automobiles are different. Not just because of size, function, and cost. But for a reason we seldom stop to consider. A person can use an umbrella without buying another product. An automobile, by contrast, is useless without fuel, oil, repair services, spare parts, not to mention streets and roads. The humble umbrella, therefore, is a rugged individual, so to speak, delivering value to its user irrespective of any other product. The mighty auto, by contrast, is a team player completely dependent on other products. So is a razor blade, a tape recorder, a refrigerator, and thousands of other products that work only when combined with others. The television set would stare blankly into the living room if someone somewhere were not transmitting images to it. Even the lowly closet hanger presupposes a rack or bar to hang it on. Each of these is part of a product system. It is precisely their systemic nature that is their main source of economic value. And just as "team players" must play by certain agreed-on rules, systemic products need standards to work. A three-pronged electrical plug doesn't help much if all the wall sockets have only two slots. This distinction between stand-alone and systemic products throws revealing light on an issue that is widening today's information wars all around the world. The French call it la guerre des normes—“the war over standards." Battles over standards are raging in industries as diverse as medical technology, industrial pressure vessels, and cameras.

It is now.

43 Toffler/Reich babey
i tried but i could not make this sexy and i apologize - in my defense as much as i love toffler he is not a sexy little man and a servant of god -WHEEZE-
43. Watching me while I sweat from exercising (more - watching reich preparing for his work out in the river)
“Why do you follow me out here?” Reich’s tone was interrogative, suspicious.
“I worry.”
“You’re always worried.”
With that comment, Toffler completely averted eye contact, “I-I worry about you b-being alone.”
Reich stripped down to his underwear, letting his clothes be strewn about the rocks. Toffler would have folded them if he had asked, not wanting his comrade to be admonished for a wrinkled uniform, but it was not as though Reich cared about that sort of thing. He wasn’t that kind of soldier, and he didn’t take scolding to heart. Not like Toffler.
Instead, Reich stared at him from the bank of the river. It was freezing cold in the Californian winter, but Reich used it as a test of endurance and will, to remind himself of his strength. Toffler did not fully understand, but did not mind the view despite telling himself that being a holy man meant needing to be above such lustful things; so instead he looked respectfully at Reich as one would look at an athlete in motion, admiring the care and attention put into the body, the muscles and bone shaped by god that led to a human being able to perform such feats.
“I’m sure you know I can handle myself.” Reich was insulted, Toffler could tell, and insulting Reich was something most people avoided doing, at least to his face or within the man’s hearing distance. Colonel Hart had more leeway when it came to insulting his men, a privilege that came with superiority and the fact that most of it was just a chuckle amongst friends.
“I kn-know.” Toffler wrung and rubbed the spine of his journal, and had he been a bit stronger the book would be threatened with the possibility of being torn in half from sheer nerves, “But being out here. Alone. In this climate. It’s d-dangerous.”
“That is true,” Reich entered the water with no more than a shudder, steadying himself against one of the large rocks that resided in the deeper part of the river, “but so am I!” He laughed and put his fists up, bracing himself physically and mentally for the cold and rush of the water.
Toffler laughed with him, though the worry still nagged him. At least being in the woods with Reich, as harsh as he could be, was better than being completely alone…
