Okay, but Jim giving amulet to Toby actually gives them an immense advantage. For the first time ever there will be two trollhunters. Also, Toby will have an actual LIVING trollhunter to mentor him and protect in early stages of his training ( 'cause the whole "meh, you probably won't survive" thing in the first episodes was immensely entertaining but not very convenient logistic-wise). And since Jim fought a deity with nothing but a sword, amulet doesn't have much use for him, though I'm pretty sure he would get the Excalibur eventually.
