AU: A few months after his “banishment,” Lucas is attacked and badly injured. He realizes he’s not going to survive without medical assistance, and so—even though he’s scared to do so—he makes a distress call to his father. The second Taylor learns where Lucas is, he drops everything and rushes out to the jungle to rescue his son and bring him back to the colony.
Once Lucas’s wounds have been treated, Taylor explains to him that he never meant to banish him, that it was supposed to be an empty threat, just to scare him into quitting his work. He assures his son that he loves him and that he wants to make up and be a family again. Seeing as Taylor has just saved his life, Lucas figures he can trust his father, and the two of them are reconciled.
