Hey, just saw that ask about @/underratedtmntaucompetition.
I understand the caution (I'm queer myself, and if the comp runners really are queerphobic, I want nothing to do with them), but it seems like a lot of people who saw that post reacted without looking into the claim at all, so I'd like to clear some things up.
As of yet, there's no proof on the blog, and no link to other groups that are known to be queerphobic themselves.
While some things are slightly suspicious (the blog is "run by a Christian group" but doesn't specify which, mentions a secondary theme for the competition which won't be revealed until the bracket is made, and as the other asker brought up, their rules "no hate speech about creators" and "be nice and respectful of everyone's opinions and choices" [both paraphrased] could be interpreted as shutting down criticism), it's important to note that these are not definitive proof of queerphobia, and could even be interpreted as queer-positive.
From the reblogs of that post, I'm aware that threats have been made to start a similar competition in response to an offensive creator being booted from a previous comp with the same premise. To my knowledge, there's no proof those threats were made by the runners of this blog, and their concept post even mentions being the first of its kind (which may not be accurate, but does seem to contradict the idea that the blog was made in retaliation).
I won't deny evidence, but it doesn't appear there is any (at least not yet).
Yeah I don’t care honestly
I don’t wanna deal with it. Plus, from what I know it lines up too well for me to think it isn’t run by them… if it turns out we’re wrong I’ll join next time. Till then, I’m just gonna sit my bum down from stuff like this
I have the quest comp going for me, might join creature con, and then the oc x canon competition
Another one would be too much anyways
