But he frowned at her question, as if he hadn't expected such response from her. "I had thought you would have the answer to such question, Your Grace."
"Why…?"
"I found him on the Goddess Statue," Levs added softly. "We think he is from before… everything."

Ghirahim pressed the knife against his throat, and Levs froze as he felt the bite of the sharp edge. “Drop your sword.” Levs’ eyes flicked over to Link, who held his sword up and ready to fight, but equally frozen by the precarious situation.
“Let him go,” he demanded lowly.
Ghirahim hummed, as if considering it. “No,” he grinned. “But how about a trade? I’ll give you this one—” He pressed the knife’s edge harder against Levs’ skin. “—if you give me that sword.”

Levs is admittedly not a super obvious name at first but I promise it has a reason! The name is derived from Levias, the protector of the Skies in Skyward Sword. Didn’t want to call him Levi, so we went with Levs. And putting on the linguist hat for a sec, but if we wanted to think of the -s suffix as a diminutive in Hylian (like the -ie is in cute/cutie), then that would make this name mean roughly Little God or Little Protector. This Link got that nickname from the people of Skyloft after he saved Levias from the parasites, and its both embarrassing and endearing.
Link is the lucky one that got to keep his real name. This is the Link that came before Skyward Sword, appearing in the manga. And while that story is semi-vague, I’ve got a rather fleshed out idea for that that may be explored later. But assume for now that he had his own fights and encounters with Ghirahim. Interesting that Ghirahim is after the sword that eventually becomes the Master Sword in this drabble 🤔
For the ask thing: do your two have preferred weapons or approaches to battle?
Yeah!! Champion was trained with swords, and that's about all he uses. He prefers two-handed weapons, and almost exclusively uses a Zora Longsword. He has one that was commissioned by King Dorephan early on in the war, following his aid in saving the Domain. But if for some reason he can't use it, he has a Royal Guard's Sword and a Guardian Spear as back up. Would be more likely to reach for the spear than the sword, but that's just because it was very helpful fighting guardians. Champion also just. does not have or use shields. Even if he's using the Royal Guard's Sword. Offense is the best defense
Levs is also very sword-reliant. At the academy, they really only teach sword and shield combat, so he really only thinks to use those. Levs does have and use some of their items, but doesn't ever think to use them in combat. Unless it's the bow, but even then they don't feel as confident in using it. Levs treats his items as puzzle solvers and not combat options.

:D yes absolutely!
Levs: any pronouns, pansexual and polyamorous. QPR with Groose and Zelda but in general Levs doesn't differentiate too much between platonic and romantic attraction, he loves everyone. He's so full of love. I cannot stress how much love she has for everyone.
Champion: he/him and demisexual. He's heteromantic but really hasn't explored much of the intricacies and labels of attraction. Classic childhood sweethearts with Mipha, hasn't really felt that kind of connection with anyone else, so hasn't needed to think too much about it.
