@davekatweek day 5: crossover

this has been sitting in my brain ever since @notedchampagne talked about their own au like FOREVER ago (check them out as well!!! they are so normal and awesome ^^) anyway its a the locked tomb au where karkat takes the place of harrow as a necromancer of ninth house and dave takes gideons place as his cavalier (<- horrible). they are both so cringefail that i think it would be THE funniest shit ever

seeing that the homestuck kids are 13-16 throughout the main story a lot of the tlt characters would not be fond of them. ill give a layout of my favorites + the actual 13-16 yo tlt characters for fun and juxtaposition:

gideon: gets along best with jake. i dont know if she has a nemesis w the hs cast but she finds dave deeply annoying and the walking example of what she expected the 4th house kids to be

harrow: gets along with None of them good jesus christ. maybe shed be interested in more bones of the troll anatomy kind, but seeing that shes from Killplanet Magicverse interacting with child murderers from Childmurderplanet, shes this close to snapping. or doing something with all that thanergy. its been a long time since i thought about hs maybe she could have some fun with gl'bgolyb. dont question me

isaac & jeannemary: get along with vriska and karkat. DONT QUESTION ME. i just feel it. child soldiers for life. gets along worst with [gestures] idk. sollux. my opinion on this can change

palamedes: gets along best/worst with the cherubs. i can see him wanting a debateful conversation with an alien species before getting pissed off for a myriad of reasons. also kanaya can crack his egg

camilla: her and sollux are minding their own damn businesses

i also gave some vague classpect thoughts before, but theyre neither my interest nor strength

The metal of swords glimmered under the faint light of the sun as it struggled against the gloom of overcast that was threatening to take over the sky. A sunny day was a rarity on the Ninth as their planet was usually surrounded by gloom to the point where heaters were needed most days and nights just to keep warm. Dirk's technique was as precise as ever, every step and move calculated against his opponent's. Parry combos alongside fast strikes were his go-to, and ever evolving and adapting them helped him to rise through the cavalier ranks of the Ninth House. Now, he stood in a small group being considered for the next Cavalier Primary: one of the biggest honors a cavalier of a House could hope for and a foreign born one to boot.

thoughts?

1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 8th i agree with in the sense that i dont have much comment on them other than "vibes" - i can see vrisrezi in the 2nd or 4th house about as equally as i can imagine karkat and equius/nepeta in the fourth based on the fact that its literally the Child Soldier planet, which fits alternia perfectly. any other houses seem more specific to tropes or character analyses that imo dont fit the homestuck cast as well! shocker but im not a huge fan of crossovers for this reason, bc trying to replace characters or positions 1:1 gets difficult when various themes and characters might intersect.

i would swap jane/jake and the strilondes because i associate the glasspits much more in the academic/unseen intelligence area (especially since jane was literally raised to learn and conquer, i can see them all more prominently in 3rd/5th as powerhouses) and the strilondes in an eternal strife with death and whatever fate might mean. but again the strilondes are also heavily fourthcoded to me (though i can see rose as sixth, and i assume you paired a lot of them from existing duo dynamics). and kanaya goes hard in the 7th house. lastly i find it hard to associate anyone with the ninth house because its so beautifully engineered for harrowhark and harrowhark only. even though karkat and kanaya have their "galaxy letdown" moments which could be associated with harrow, the ninths main purpose is to isolate and uphold a deep antichrist with fear and reverence, which is [gestures vaguely] its something rose would want to migrate to but you would have to consider how their personalities would be nurtured if they were born and raised in such an environment; its harder to reverse engineer such things and at this point its a lot like a very extreme kidswap to me

cam: sylph(?) of breath | pal: seer of heart (if you want matching i like to see them as heart/mind)

i also see the tridentarii as blood vs breath for matching, but thinking individually ianthe is really voidbased to me
