Fujifilm Instax mini EVO + Fujifilm Instax Mini Monochrome film

Eclipse viewing looks a bit iffy today. Looking out back this morning, there's a pretty thick cloud cover.

The thing about film and old cameras is that there are zero guarantees that any pictures are gonna turn out.

And so it went with the Spartus Full Vue for #12monthsonfilmmar

I dev'd the roll of Tri-X yesterday. I'll scan the negs this afternoon. Looks like seven possibilities out of twelve shots. Fingers crossed.

April is a new month.

A favorite month, because between April 21st and April 26th Spring 'Roid Week 2024 happens.

And that means I'll be shooting instant film for #12monthsonfilmapr and it'll be with four Instax cameras - the SQ10, SQ6, Wide 300, and the miniEvo - and naturally, all Instax films.

So, yeah. A twofer this month… @12monthsonfilm and Spring 2024 'Roid Week.

Fujifilm Instax mini EVO + Fujifilm Instax Mini Monochrome film

I used the mini EVO this past Saturday morning while at the inaugural Coffee and Pfuel car show on Main Street in Pflugerville. A very hot and humid morning, I didn't last an hour. Not enough shade trees!

Got a few decent shots with the monochrome filter. When I got home I scrolled through what I'd shot and decided to print a few using monochrome film. I also spotted this picture from the Pioneer Farms stroll, one I hadn't printed. It was originally color.

I thought maybe that harsh shadow behind her might translate better in black and white. I used the mini EVO's crop feature to get in a little closer.

The print looks okay holding it in my hand, but the scan revealed a little bit of fuzziness.

I watched the Dan Winters episode of Nat Geo's Photographer series last night.

Insightful. Interesting. Intriguing. Introspective.

There's nothing more telling about an artist than their work space. Seeing what they treasure, keep, display.

Alters fascinate me, and seeing the things Winters treasures was quite cool.

I learned of @danwintersphoto from Josh Baker a few years back at one of the North Austin Pfotographic Society meetings, been a fan of his work since.

One of my fave parts of the episode was when, while sitting behind a larger format camera, Winters asked his young son Dylan, "Where's the light?"

I think that'd make a great t-shirt.
