So for today i decided to write something instead of doing an art peice. Ever since i saw someone headcanon that Cartee and Sadie host a weekly podcast I've always had is as a hc of mine that whenever a new initiate joined they got to introduce themselves on said podcast so i decided to write what that would've been like when two of my ocs joined. Dahlia (she/her) and Cricket (he/him) so without further adoâ
Tuning into the radio station and switching the knob you tune into the 21st gnome.
Carter: "Hello and welcome back to Kane family and friends podcast-"
Sadie: "For today's first segment we have two new initiates to introduce to everyone!" Carter: "Hey! That was supposed to be my line!" Sadie: "Welp ya snooze ya lose."
Carter: "Anyway, not only did two new initiates arrive just today but they also arrived together and relatively unharmed."
Sadie: "Soooo without further ado why don't you introduce yourselves."
A soft unknown voice came through the radio.
New initiate 1: "Uh hi, I'm Dahlia-Aletris, I usually just go by Dahlia though...
A distinctly more excited, slightly deeper voice chimed up next.
New Initiate 2: "The names Cricket! I just turned sixteen and I'm super excited ta be here!!"
Sadie: "How did you two end up arriving here together? Did you know each other beforehand?"
Cricket: "Oh no, we bumped into each other on the way here."
Dahlia : "It was more like you barreling into me without any warning."
Cricket: "Not my fault you had your head burried in a map."
Dahlia: "You were running through the forest like a headless chicken!!"
Carter: "Ok, next question. Do either of you have any ideas on whose path you may want to follow?"
Cricket: "Honestly I have no idea. There's just so many it's gonna be hard ta choose."
Sadie: "Don't worry about it, you'll have plenty of time to figure it out."
Carter: "And you Dahlia? Any Ideas?"
Dahlia: "I've had a lot of time to think it over and I think I'd like to follow the path of Wadjet."
Carter: "Why Wadjet? If You're alright with sharing of course."
Dahlia: "Her domain seems pretty appealing and I've always had a liking for snakes."
Sadie: "Moving on. Could you to tell us a bit about yourselves."
Cricket: "Well i love studying, I'm Canadian, and I love bugs!!"
Carter: "You're from Canada? Which Province?"
Cricket: "I live in Quebec but I'm actually from all the way up in Nunavat."
Carter: "Interesting."
Dahlia: "Wait a minute, you ran into me in Mississippi."
Cricket: "Me and my mom were there visiting some cousins."
Sadie: "Huh, what about you Dahlia? Would ya mind telling the people a bit more about yourself?"
Dahlia: "Uh ok um, I came here from downtown Louisiana, I really like plants, and I uh want to become a tattoo artist maybe..."
Cricket: "Don't forget you're multilingual."
Dahlia: "My egyptian's really not that good."
Carter: "Don't fret about it! We have classes specially for that I'm sure you'll learn in no time."
Cricket: "Not that. I meant your french."
Sadie: "YOU'RE FRENCH!?!"
Dahlia: "I'm cajun actually, growing up i learned french and english together, sometimes i forget they aren't the same language."
Carter: "Hmm I wonder what kind of differences there are between cajun french and french french."
Cricket: "Probably about the same amount as there are between Cajun and Quebec french."
Sadie: "YOU'RE ALSO FRENCH?!"
Cricket: "Nah, i barely even speak the language. I only moved to Quebec a couple years ago."
Sadie: "Still!"
Carter: "Well french or not we're happy to have you both here."
Cricket: "We're Happy to be here!"
Dahlia: "Mhm."
Sadie: "The french taking over."
Carter: "Welp that's a wrap for now. On to our next segment cooking with Khonsu!"

((I wrote a little fanfic about TKC Thoth and Manon (OC) that took place before our RP! ~Mod Sav))
Anything For You
TW: Alcohol, sexual harassment
Manon swore sheâd never love anybody ever again. Not after what had happened to her family. They made her happy, they made her feel loved, then BAM! Gone. Dead, reduced to piles of ashes.
Manon swore sheâd never let herself feel that heartbreak again. Those awful nights full of tears, where sheâd cry herself to sleep and wish that their murders had been some sort of twisted prank, that theyâd suddenly appear and be like, âJust kidding, weâre alive!â
Of course, that never happened. The dead tend to stay dead. But the hope Manon felt, the painful hope that a miracle would happen, destroyed her emotionally, so she swore sheâd never love anyone like that again.
Until him.
Oh, that bastard.
Manon had had crushes before. The boy on the playground who Manon thought was cute when she was eight. The handsome magician who Manon followed around the First Nome when she was twelve, hoping heâd notice her and talk to her. A baseball player at her high school.
But never had she fallen in love as an adult. Never had she fallen in love with an ancient god.
Yes, Manon was in love with Thoth, the Egyptian god of knowledge. Seven billion people on the planet, and she had to fall in love with him of all people.
Manon knew she didnât have a chance with him, as much as she tried to deny it. Thoth could probably get any woman or man he wanted. Why on earth would he choose Manon, his twenty-one-year-old assistant/bodyguard?
Thoth was very much capable of protecting himself. Manon really didnât understand why he needed someone who basically served as his bodyguard. But the group she was a part of thought it necessary. Probably because she had more information about the cult than him, which was ironic considering Thoth was a god of knowledge. But whatever. Manon didnât mind her job.
She didnât mean to fall in love with him, of course. It just...happened. And if Manon could have predicted before she came to Memphis that sheâd fall for him, she would have been shocked.
He seemed so cold at first. Like a slightly more emotional Vulcan with attention span issues. But then as Manon got to know him more, he let what Manon guessed was his real self show. And she fell in love with him.
In return, she started to trust him more. In fact, she trusted him more than she has trusted anyone in a long time. Manon told him embarrassing things about herself, like the time she managed to fall headfirst into a fountain because she was too busy reading, and the time she cried because she saw a really cute dog. Things she never imagined sheâd tell anyone, especially not a millennia-old god.
Thankfully, Thoth didnât make her feel any more embarrassed about those things. Heâd simply give her a small smile, a smile that made Manon melt every time she saw it, and make a comment about how something similar happened to him. An ancient guy like him had hours of embarrassing moments to talk about.
And contrary to popular belief, Thoth had a sense of humor. His sense of humor was subtle but refined, his jokes coming in the form of off-hand, often passive-aggressive remarks and puns. The worst puns, which would always make Manon laugh, especially with his stoic delivery of them, the only hint of his mischief a smirk.
Of course, Thoth wasnât without his flaws. Manon had seen his bad side in addition to his good side. In fact, she noticed that everyone had mostly seen his bad side, his stubbornness, emotionlessness, and his occasional arrogance, hence his not-so-good reputation among the gods and others who have met him. Despite his flaws, Manon still loved him for him. They were part of him, after all, and she knew she definitely wasnât without flaws.
For the most part, though, Thoth was kind and caring. A real gentleman, in Manonâs opinion, although she might be biased. For the several months she had spent with him, heâd offered her nothing but kindness and hospitality and expected nothing in return but her companionship and occasional help. Sometimes, Thoth would ask Manon to be a test subject for odd spell combinations he wanted to try. Nothing that could potentially kill her, though, according to Thoth.
One time, Thoth asked her to be a test subject for a potential strength spell combination. Manon agreed, like she always did, and he tested the spell combination on her. Something must have gone wrong, though, because Manon lost consciousness and the next thing she remembered was waking up on the floor, Thoth kneeling above her and fretting over her, making sure she was okay. Manon wasnât okay, she ended up somehow contracting some illness from the spell combination. She remembered Thoth carrying her to bed and tucking her in, then nursing her back to health for a few days.
He never asked for anything in return. Gods, he was so sweet. Manon loved him. She hoped one day to return his kindness. She didnât know how she would, but somehow, she would do it.
In addition to his lovely personality, Thoth looked good. Sure, he didnât look like a male supermodel, but damn, he was still hot. Manon could admire him and his multicolored eyes, messy hair, and slender but somewhat muscular body for hours. She also liked the way he dressed, especially when he wore his usual outfit of a lab coat, t-shirt, and jeans, all scribbled on in marker with various hieroglyphics for easy spell-casting. That outfit captured his personality well, Manon thought, plus it looked comfortable and hot on him.
Gods, she had it bad, didnât she? Swooning over an ancient deity like some hormonal schoolgirl. Even just a thought of him made her blush and grin.
Manon sat at the bar, a dreamy smile on her face as she stirred her drink with her straw. Only a layer of ice and watered down whiskey remained in the glass.
She had come to this bar for no reason, really. She had just gotten out of a musical that she saw in downtown Memphis. Thoth said he had something else to do, so Manon went alone. And once she was done, wellâŠshe could use a small drink. Not much, just a little something to make her tipsy, to keep her attention off her thoughts and feelings.
Thoth had been hesitant to let her leave, though. âYou look feverish,â he had said, laying his cool, smooth hand on her forehead, a look of concern upon his face. âAre you feeling alright?â
Manon said yes, and he let her go to the musical. Truth be told, Manon was only âfeverishâ because she was in his presence and was blushing wildly.
And now, she found herself hereâŠ.
âMore whiskey, miss?â The bartender asked her.
Manon nodded and slid her glass over. âSure. Just a bit more, though. I donât want to get wasted.â She chuckled a bit.
The bartender nodded back and went to go pour her drink.
A man who Manon hadnât even noticed sat down on the stool next to her.
âFrench, eh?â He asked in a gruff, vaguely southern-US accent. He was a large, hulking man who obviously frequented the gym. His appearance reminded Manon of a modern Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.
Eyeing him suspiciously, Manon nodded. âYes. From Montpellier.â
The man let out a whistle. âFrom what Iâve heard, the French are notorious for their lovinâ. Is that true?â
Oh, so heâs one of those guys. Manon rolled her eyes. âI donât know and I donât fucking care,â she grumbled, turning away from him.
The man frowned. âI was just askinâ a question.â
âA weird one,â Manon muttered.
The man didnât answer. Manon received her drink and took a sip. The man spoke again.
âI like that dress on you. Really shows off your beautiful ass.â
Manon almost choked on her drink. âEx-Excuse me?â
âYou have a beautiful ass,â the man murmured, leaning closer to her, his arm starting to wrap around her waist.
The shock wore off, and before the man could do anything, Manon picked up her drink and poured it all over the manâs face. Whiskey dripped down from his face in golden-brown drops as he glared at Manon.
âBitch! I was giving you a compliment!â
âAnd touching me inappropriately!â Manon yelled back, not caring that the whole bar was staring at them now. She was pissed now. âAnd your comment was creepy! Who the hell compliments a strangerâs ass? Get away from me, creep!â
She moved to get up and find somewhere else to sit, but the man grabbed her elbow, yanking her back down. Letting out a yell, Manon snatched her arm from his grip. The man retaliated by shoving her, causing her to fall backwards off the stool.
Manon landed on her back, hissing at the impact. The skirt of her dress was all messed up, and Manon was thankful that she had the foresight to wear shorts beneath it.
She tried to get up, but the man kicked her down again. The bartender and a few bystanders tried to restrain this man, but his strength made this an impossible task.
He kicked again, causing a sharp pain to shoot through Manonâs ribs. Despite this, Manon tried to get up to beat this guyâs ass, but the man pushed her back down and tried to punch her, which Manon dodged with almost-expert reflexes.
The bartender and bystanders once again tried to restrain this man, but their efforts were futile. The man managed to break free of their clutches, and as he did so, he swung his arm and fist back, ready to punch Manon again.
Before Manon had time to react, an iridescent hieroglyphic flashed across the manâs face. Manon had time to just read it before it sank into the manâs forehead. Calm.
The man pacified instantly. âSorry,â he mumbled in a dreamy voice, the voice of a mortal under the influence of magic. âI didnât realize you were taken. My bad.â
He walked away before anyone, whether Manon or the bartender or the bystanders, had time to say anything.
âAre you alright?â Thoth asked, appearing in front of Manon and offering her a hand. His eyebrows were furrowed in concern. âAre you hurt?â
Dozens of thoughts cluttered Manonâs mind, and she turned pink and desperately tried to find some way to verbalize all of them, but only one of them managed to be said, the most important one.
âWhy...why are you here?â
âAccording to my calculations based on all known information about the musical and its venue and location, I estimated that your time of arrival back to my place would be around 10:45 PM, give or take ten to fifteen minutes,â Thoth began. âBut that time period passed, so I decided to find your location, in case something happened to you. You seemed feverish earlier, and I was hoping that you didnât fall ill while on your way from the musical.â
He frowned, putting his hand once again against Manonâs forehead. âYou still look and feel feverish...though I suppose it could be the result of the alcohol youâve consumed and the fight against that...moron.â
Manon blushed even more and gently pushed his hand away. âIâm fine, Iâm fine, it was just the fight and the whiskey.â
Well, she wasnât fine, she was fairly certain she broke a rib, but Thoth didnât need to know that at the moment.
Thoth nodded, his eyes narrowing. âVery well.â He then tilted his head. âI saw that man kick near your rib cage. No pain around there?â
Ah shit.
âThey hurt a bit,â Manon said, biting her lip and looking away. âNot much, though. Iâll be fine.â
That was a lie, they actually hurt more than a bit, but Manon didnât want Thoth to worry about her, even if she would like it if he did. She was just his mortal assistant. Nothing more.
âVery well,â Thoth said again. âI can take a look at them once we get back to my building.â
âI sure hope you can,â Manon joked, looking back at Thoth, a grin dancing on her lips. As her gaze returned to him, she noticed his outfit. He wore a maroon button-down shirt, which was tucked into a pair of purple pinstripe pants with suspenders. A black bow tie hung from his collar. Manon turned even redder.
âYou like nice,â she complimented, her mischievous grin turning into a shy smile. Thoth smiled back.
âWhy thank you. I didnât want to stand out too much here.â His eyes moved up and down Manonâs body, analyzing her outfit of a black dress with lace sleeves. âYou look nice as well.â
Manon grinned. âThanks.â
The two kind of just looked at one another for a few moments, then Thoth looked away, clearing his throat. âWell, shall we head back?â
Manon nodded. Thoth offered her his hand again, and Manon took it this time, standing up. She wondered if Thoth used lotion or if his hands were naturally that soft.
He let go of her hand and started leading her towards the front door of the bar. Manon followed, her walking wobbly due to the bit of alcohol sheâd had and the pain in her ribs.
As soon as they were outside the bar, Thoth looked back at her and noticed her difficulties walking. Manon thanked the gods that she decided not to wear high heels that night.
âDo you need help walking?â Thoth asked, his voice gentle.
Manon nodded. âIâd appreciate that. Iâd like to not die before we get back.â
Thoth smiled at her joke and walked towards her, offering her his arm. Manon took it, appreciating his kindness as well as the firmness of his muscles, though sheâd never admit that to anyone.
They walked together, Manon using Thothâs arm to steady herself as they walked in the direction of the university where Thothâs building was located. It wasnât too far of a walk, thankfully, maybe just ten or fifteen minutes, but Manon was thankful for Thothâs presence. She knew that walking alone in the city at that time of night could be dangerous for a young woman like Manon, especially if she was intoxicated. Of course, she could always use her magic and fighting skills to take down any mortal threat, but that would be rather difficult for even a mildly intoxicated person.
People smiled at the two as they walked, obviously assuming that Manon and Thoth were a couple. Why people were out on the streets that late, Manon had no idea. Thoth seemed to pay no attention to them, focusing straight ahead. Manon just blushed and focused on walking like a normal, functioning human being, ignoring the pain in her ribs.
They were almost to the university when Manon decided to break the silence that stretched between them.
âThank you.â
âWhat for?â Thoth asked. Manon giggles slightly. Gods, he was so adorable.
âFor saving me from that douche in the bar. And for walking me back and letting me use you as a support. And for, well, everything, I guess. For allowing me to exist in your home and exist in your life. For...being my friend.â Manon looked away, suddenly ashamed of her giving of gratitude.
To her surprise, Thoth gave her a gentle smile, a smile that seemed to ease her pain and dissipate her embarrassment. A smile that brought her joy and a sense of security and comfort whenever she saw it.

Jaz was very surprised to be rushed out of her bed in the middle of the night because the princess had a broken ankle.Â
âYour Highness, may I ask how you did this? It would help me heal it faster.â She clarified.Â
â...I tripped.â This was the first time sheâd been so up close with her and she was terrifying to be beside. Or maybe that was because of her guard whose sword was very sharp and glinted threateningly in the light. How could glinting seem threatening? She didnât know, but it was.Â
âWould you mind telling me exactly how?â The princess rolled her eyes and Jaz felt very close to having that blade slit her throat.Â
âI- uh⊠I fell off the roof.â
She blinked. What on earth was the princess doing up there? It wasnât her business though. Not if she wanted to live past this appointment.Â
âMay I take a look?â Her leg was already propped up so it just took a nod for Jaz to examine the swollen ankle. âWell, youâve definitely twisted it. Itâs not serious though. Just keep it elevated, the swelling should go down in itâs own time and⊠try not to fall off of roofs in the future.â
âCanât you heal this right now? You follow the path of Sekhmet, donât you?â She wasnât pleased. Jaz gulped.Â
âI could do that, but in the case of injuries such as this, itâs more beneficial to the body to let it heal on its own. Weâve found that when itâs been healed with magic, the ankle might fail or break more easily in the future and we donât want to risk that of course.â
âRight. Well, you must accompany me for that time then!â
âWhat- I mean, pardon?â
âIf I am to rest, then you have to keep me company. You will still be paid and when I am well, you can return to your job.â
âOf course, your highness.â She didnât have a choice so it was more to be genial. Better than execution though.Â
She didnât have much to bring so she just accompanied the princess to wherever she was going, even though she had to walk and the princess was carried on a litter. Sheâd seen her run around most of the time, evading servants and chastising family members so it was unnerving to see her so regal.Â
They reached a lounge, except ten times as grand as Jaz had ever seen it and a guard moved Sadie from the litter to a couch. Jaz grabbed a cushion and placed it under her swollen foot, extremely obviously even though she was acutely aware of all the rules she was breaking. The princess patted her hand though and she felt at ease.Â
âThe healer is permitted to touch me,â she announced to her entourage who bowed and left the room when she waved her hand.Â
The second they left, she completely transformed. Far less a princess and more of a young girl having fun.Â
âOkay, since I canât roof run anymore, I want some company. So youâre going to do that.â
âYour Highness-â Jaz began but the princess cut her off.Â
âWhen they arenât here, call me Sadie.â
âYour name?â What was going on? Had the world turned inside out? Had Nut and Geb reunited? There was no way a lowly healer had just been given permission to call the princess by her name. It was too late for this. She needed some sleep.Â
âNot my actual name, and not my secret name, Gods, but itâs something I like to be called.âÂ
âOf course, Your- Sadie.â
âYour Sadie? I like the sound of that.â
She blushed and carried on down the hallway, offering her arm to the princess. Sheâd never been through his part of the palace before, her patients preferring to come to her with the exception of that old man, the retired general, who had been unable to walk because of gout. That had not been a fun healing session. Â
Eventually they made it to the princessâ chambers - a whole apartment with itâs own household. She had her own servants, guards, maids inside the palace.Â
Why wouldnât she though? Jaz shook herself. Her brother was the Pharaoh, she was one of the most important people in the kingdom.Â
Sadie turned to her, âSince this wasnât exactly planned⊠we donât have a room for you.â
Jaz bit her tongue in an effort not to protest that the Pharaoh didnât have a spare room for when his sister was determined to kidnap another person into her household. What, was she going to have to sleep on the floor like a dog?
â-so we can share my bed.âÂ
Jaz blinked a few hundred times before she processed what Sadie was saying. âIâm sorry, so sorry, Y- Sadie, I mustâve misheard you.â
âI said we could share my bed.â She suddenly grew shy, an emotion most likely foreign to her. âOnly if you want to though, itâs completely fine if you donât. Thereâs lots of space though-â
âThat sounds good.â Jaz smiled at her, trying to reassure her. She felt a yawn incoming and said, âI donât suppose, we can sleep now?â
âCome on, Iâll show you.â Sadie limped down the hallway to a room, a far reach from the cell that Jaz slept in, with gold everywhere and flowing fabric curtains. In the centre was the bed, a frame covered in blankets and pillows.Â
âYouâll need to keep your foot elevated when youâre asleep so if we just,â she picked up a pillow and put it down where Sadieâs foot would go.Â
She laid down next to Sadie, unrelaxed, held stiff as a board, their shoulders just  brushing as the princessâ breath got deeper and deeper and once she was sure she was asleep, she just looked at her, hair covered to keep it from being ruined and every part of her crisp makeup which Jaz had seen her wear whenever she left her room, washed away, revealing her light brown skin.Â
She let herself relax, untensing her muscles and fell into deep sleep beside her princess. Â
