honest question for watchers of titans out there especially the dickkory fans:
now that we're up to season 3, when y'all watch titans do you really get the feeling that dickkory is established and given the right amount of care and representation? OR that theyre still underdeveloped and that writers spend more time giving dick romance scenes with other characters besides kory? and are you pleased with it?
Like I get having criticism, but I feel like the Titans fandom jumps the gun and doesnt wait for everything to play out, and just starts going on hate rages and trashing everything before you know the whole story.
Everyone is so use to binging content all at once now, that people seem to be getting frustrated when everything isnt resolved right away/in one sitting. When you watch a ton of episodes in a row, they start to blur together and you think about the story as a whole. Unfortunately people got so use to that, that when they watch a single episode a week, they want it to be a perfect story arc (or what the fandom projects will happen/fan theories, after letting them stew a whole week. you dont have as many expectations for each individual episode when you watch them all at once.) I've seen people complaining that Barbara is gonna be introduced on the dc titans as a cop. And on one hand I get it, I really do. Barbara being librarian is so iconic and not every hero has to be a cop ( especially considering that we already have cop! Dick on the show). However, they needed a reason to have her meddle with the plot. And being Dick's old friend/past girlfriend isn't enough reason for her to be involved with the plot. Barbara being cop makes her plot relevant and also helps introduce some other elements on the series ex: Scarecrow's involvement.
Titans S2E1 Thoughts
I have to say the thing that makes me really love this episode is how much more it made me appreciate the characters.
I feel like the finale really gave Gar a spot to shine which I feel was missing from a good part of S1.
Kory still deserves more recognition though. I wish she had more screentime and that we has more time with her.
I feel like they should have shortened Dick’s nightmare in S1 to give more attention to the others. It felt rushed ngl.
Character Highlights
Slade and Billy.
These two were only in the episode for a few seconds but they stole the show for me. Esai Morales’ acting is on point. The one silent scene in the cabin said so much with so little. And I love the dynamic between Slade and Billy here. I was worried about titans not showing their close relationship, but I’m so happy that I am wrong. Demore Barnes is able to show him as a caring friend and a close ally. And the small jestures between Slade and Billy really sell their relationship.
Jason
I love him, and the way Curran portrays him is very endearing. It’s so refreshing to see a more lighthearted robin Jason than the “always angry and reckless to the point it got him killed” type that he was retconned as. He wants to prove himself and is eager to help. He tries to be cool to impress others (even if they aren’t having it lol). And I love how amused Hank and Dawn are with him. And the fact he doesn’t bat an eye to Hank calling Bruce his dad makes me feel so happy. The nightmare also definitely showed Jason’s love for Bruce.
Bruce
Bruce was a literal surprise for me. I was not expecting to like him or expecting to like his interaction with Dick, but I am so happy for it. We get a Bruce who is willing to sit down and talk and above all apologize to Dick in a way that is genuine. The way he spoke to Dick reflected an amount of emotional maturity that I feel like is lacking in a lot of his comic appearances (specifically the main Batman run rn). Having been disappointed by a lot of Rebirth Bruce’s actions in the comics, Titans Bruce was a breath of fresh air. Also, I really agree with the statement about getting Adam West vibes from Iain. Idk how to say it, but the manner of speaking that he uses reminds me alot of how Adam would talk in the 60s show.

watch titans still find a way to make next week’s episode mostly about red hood like they did 3x4 “blackfire”. i'll be surprised if they don't include jason in it at all.
calling it now, redhood is getting the most fleshed-out arc since it started at the very beginning of s3. and despite kory’s situation being established mid s2, kory & donna will get the scraps just like they did in the s2 finale.
also, the same guy who wrote jason’s episode in s3, is the same guy who wrote jason’s convoluted episode in s2. clearly, a jason stan...which is fine but i feel like a lot of it is being methodically handled to cater to batman fans...which is also fine, but i dont wanna stick around for the show anymore. i imagine they'll bring in damian in s4, and it'll be about dick having to babysit a rambunctious little ninja assassin while his team tries to help here and there while also taking care of their own problems but with damian, dick, and batman being the main crux of it all. i’ll just stick to reblogging spoilers of gar, kory, and rachel who will probably get a sprinkle of focus.
